How to stop wood shaft warping.

I have a great idea. What if we take those Silica Gel packs and throw them in our pool cue cases? that would keep things nice and dry... right?
Why not buy shafts that have been properly made.
or
Go with CF shafts.

My shafts were finished at least 20 years after acquired as square lumber.
That makes my shaft wood around 40 years old.
They're still perfectly straight.

Don't do anything special other than keeping my cues out of temp extremes.
Mostly worried about heat.

it could take 100 years to warp. Time is irrelevant here. I was just thinking of preventative measures. I would guess that if you had a a good cue you wouldn't need a case either.

I have a funny story on the subject. I met a buddy of mine to play pool one day and he asked to borrow a cue. I asked where his was (a Richard Black). He told me he kept it in his truck and it froze the night before and every time it freezes the shaft get wet and sticky as it goes back to a normal temperature.

Of course I told him he cannot under any circumstances leave his cue in his truck. He looked at me kind of confused and said he always had. Spring summer winter and fall. For years his cue lived in his truck. The next time we played I rolled that cue. Straight as an arrow.

Cuemaker/Kikel dries his wood out for years before cuttin.

He hangs all cut shafts/vertically to rest.... before the next trim stage. Takes many weeks to do one shaft properly.

There's always wood stabilizer. Some are toxic - stopped nobody. All those lifetime guaranteed straight brands ...???
