How to video practice

I want to learn how to video myself to improve stroke mechanics.
I do have Sony Handi Cam and a tripod.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert

I always tape myself running a rack placing the camera off to the corner and at about eye level or higher to begin with. This gives you a good idea what you look like in general and you can spot a lot of things like keeping your head down, etc.

Next, I tape myself from behind my body to see if my elbow is perpendicular to the ground, etc. I also tape myself from the side to get that angle.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but I hope that helps a little.

Best thing I could suggest is to put the camera on a pod on another table right infront of it. Even better if you are breaking towards the camera, because then you can see the balls and your stroke.

It's also nice because its up high a bit but not to high not to be able to see your fundamentals. But not to low that you can't see the balls etc..

Was about to answer this thread but Gatz' answer pretty much covered what I was about to say.

Some cameras need to be taken a few feet away from the table so you can get a good view on your mechanics. And some cameras need to be taken to a distance because the lense is not "fish-eye" and if you take it too close, you can see only a part of the table.

The camera was on a tripod on a table at about 8' height from the floor.
Make sure that if you shoot in a pool room, pick some quiet hour to do it. Hope this helps.
