How Would YOU Play It?

Since we are talking fantasy type shots, bank the 6 to the bottom left corner with extreme low right. CB draws between the 10/8 to the end rail, where the right hand spin carries you two out of the corner, between the rail and 12 ball...... down for perfect position on the 7.

Yep, thats what I would do..........

I think someone said a word about my shot selection earlier that actually describes this choice perfectly, truly, unequivocally.... Silly ;)

No way I'd bank that 6... the three railer is a better bet IMO. And just going into the 11 and spinning off is still OK, not great. I still like my stick draw.. cheat the right side of the pocket, snap it back with low right, and reverse it up past the side... maybe half a diamond, 7 in the lower left, outsville.

I disagree. 0 pro players are playing safe from there.

Fewer than 1/25 are playing a bank from ther, I will admit.

If they don't have the room to go three rails around, I think a lot of pro players would play safe from there depending on the score/bet/table.

I think pro players would ask the simple question, do I have a better chance making the 6 and taking the long 7 and getting on the 8, or do I have a better chance winning with my opponent kicking/jumping.

I think zero pro players are playing safe on that 6-ball.
If one player did, on a man of equal speed, win or lose, he's going to get the price raised.

I used to love players that would turn down a shot at the win.

There are also zero pro players involved in this thread. A safety is by far the best play keeping that in mind.

You need to have a good stroke for this shot. A lot of Follow with inside
English. The key to this shot, besides having a good stroke is make the 6 ball
on the right side of the pocket. Try to get the cue ball below the 13 ball. Not on
the rail. I like shooting the 7 with some outside English, coming below the 13.
If struck correctly the cue ball maintains the correct angle for the 8. So a little
too hard or soft, you're still on the correct angle for the 8. The 8. 10, and 11 ball all in the same pocket. Play the 11, one rail out to a little past center table.
Same with the 12, one rail out. Straight in the 13. First shot is the key too
making everything easy.

I guess you didn't read the whole thread...

You sure about that?

I'm not sure about anything. Who is the pro here and what did they say to do? Whatever it was I'm sure most of you here can't execute it. I'm just a hack and I'm pretty sure safe is my best play.

See post # 68.
However, you view point makes more sense to me now.....
....these threads tend to be about the best way of playing a shot....
....rather than how different speeds should handle it.

Pardon my ignorance... who's bushwhacker?

Gary Nolan.

When I first saw this thread, I was sure that it was another one of what a pro player had done in a game. I was surprised to find out the OP had shot it. (good shot!)

This same set up was done by a pro in one of the youtube matches I have seen. I have no idea which one it was. He banked the ball cross side, and followed down table for the next shot. The commentators were surprised by the shot, and impressed. They all agreed that going around the table with all the obstacles was frought with peril, and that he had made the correct choice, although they hadn't guessed it before hand.

Bottom line is, if you can bank with confidence, it is the correct shot. It's not a hard bank, and one that should be made. If this shot is not in your arsenal, it now should be. Always try and be aware of all options, and the ones you aren't familiar with, or have a low percentage on, are the ones you should be practicing.

A pro player could also play a much better safety than I can and would probably have the opponent kicking back at the head rail. I could envision a European pro opting for a safety sooner than an American.

Ding Ding Ding!! We have a winner.. Good call Patrick..

Slight crossover with some inside will put the 6 cross side and natural shape on the 7..

Had this shot come up last night and got out for the cheese...

Anybody playing this shot has my action.

Then you'll love this one.

The OB is in an awkward position, but if you need to shoot it can be made three times (even twice if you hit it real good) cross side.
