How would you play this shot?

This is probably what I'd try. I don't have high confidence in getting the hook (probably only 50% or a little less), but I'm leaving my opponent tough even if I don't.

I would try this probably
Hitting the 3 a couple banks and stopping the CB dead would be an option, only problem is, if you didn't get the hook, shape would be easy for the 4 ball.

The first thing that comes to mind is a very thin cut on the 3 for a long distance safe, hoping for the 5 as a blocker:

KoolKat posted a good one. I usually dolly it over the pocket for the guy or the shooter one rails from the side and kicks it in. Gives good distance though.

On the internet, where I always get out, I reverse bank it and try to ticky under the 8 to get shape on the 4:

This is my chloice, too. Yes, it's a little passive, but a solid upside without much downside, and it's relatively easy to prouduce the hook. The object ball twice across "bank safe" noted by Jason is also a solid choice with a big upside and not too big a downside.
I'd like to add that the kick suggested by Neil, though creative, is not to my liking. Let's start with the observation, my opinion only, that getting the hook is unlikely, so even with good object ball control, this shot will leave the three near the four ball and plenty of distance. However, leaving the three ball next to the four makes opponent's reply easier, not tougher, as the four can help opponent to control the three as they play their net safety. Hence, if I'm playing the kick safe, I'm protecting against leaving the three next to the four.
A kick safe that leaves the three and the four separated is, however, a very solid shot here, but not so easily executed.

I would just bank the 3 in the corner and play shape on the 4 with a little draw. Why play safe when you have an easy bank?
I'd bank the 3 two rails with draw trying to get the cue ball as close to the end rail middle diamond while at the same time trying to get the 3 ball on the rail middle diamond at the other end of the table
This would be my choice as well. I have no problem kicking at a ball that I could hit directly, but I only do so when kicking allows me to position the balls in a way that is not possible by hitting the ob directly.
