And, Russ, these are not procut pockets, but they do have the super deep shelf that diamond doesn't make anymore.

I'll mention one thing though. I have rattled more balls in the "deep cut" Diamond pockets than I have in the "short shelf" - pro cut or regular league cut pockets.

Lots of good answers though. That is what is great about threads like this. It gets prepares you for all possibilities. Thinking " outside the box. :smile:

I love these threads. I wish I'd played more on a diamond bbox to say how viable cheating the pocket is. But a lot of people feel it isn't so it seems like a stop on the 2 is inevitable if you're trying to get out. Maybe draw it a little if the bridging is comfortable.

IMO you have to be an awfully scared player to not try the carom. It just looks bad on the 9 foot diagram. Here's how the shot really looks:

Riding the 9 in is 1 in a million so I don't factor that in. If anything it's a slight downside... I'm trying a missable shot and there's a chance of hanging the 9 near the pocket.

What makes this shot a winner to me is where you're playing shape (somewhere south of the 5). If the carom overcuts and hits the short rail it might hide behind the 5. If it undercuts and hits the long rail it banks back towards the middle of the short rail, probably leaving nothing. This is one of those planned "getting lucky" shots.
