How would you run this out?

I have a great idea. You should just quit 8-ball altogether and play bank pool. I'm serious, we could make a lot of money.

Banks are one of my weakest areas, and my teammates about fainted when I made both banks in a row! I was like wholy crap I made one..........then I made another and I was like that's it don't play me the rest of the night cause I used it all up right there! LOL

You really did things the hard way with that ..... but congrats on the b&r..... I would of shot the 2 first breaking out the six and moving the 8 to a on area first.

It wasn't a b&r, but thanks anyway! LOL

Yea I should have used the 2 to break out the 6!

3 on to 5 (leaving over bag) one into top right corner, 7 into the same 4 opposite corning drawing back to the top of the triangle, 6 into corner with right english kicking the cueball into the nine, dropping the two in take the three into that bag. leaving the cueball anwhere above the top of the triangle, then 8 into the side!!

So that is my retarted run out, and I am not sure how I accomplished it. It was just a lot of luck, and me not missing the shots!

I wish I would have looked at shooting the 2 first now. That seems like a lot better option.

I guess I could have played safe somewhere in there too, but I didn't.

Anyway, I know my tables probably aren't drawn right, or don't show it right, but you guys get the idea!

I pulled a run-out out of my ass!!!!! LOL

Yea for me!

If I would have thought about it though I could have made it easier like some of you said by taking the 2 then the 6 would be opened up, and I don't think I would have had a problem getting the 8 because the 13 was far enough off of it!
Nothing is retarded about it at all. It worked for you and that is great. It is a learning experience. It is not the journey that matters - it is the end result. The end result is you won that game. Could it have been easier? Yes. Could it have been harder? Yes. Great job on the run. Didn't look like luck to me. Looked like some great shots.

Thanks dude!

If there are two things I need to work on though it is safety play, and possition play! LOL

That run out could have been a lot easier! LOL

I took a safety seminar about 6 months ago from Glen Bond here in Arizona and since then my game has gone up a notch. I play a lot smarter now. A lot of safeties are very simple we just don't see them because a lot of us are very offensive minded. I am still offensive minded but I have many more options to choose from when I am at the table now.

That's the beauty of pool, there are so many ways you can play a rack & get out. It never gets old.

I probably would've taken the 6ball first & gone from there. However, if I was playing the way I did tonight I'd have been better off just shaking my opponents hand & thanking him for handing my ass to me! Yes, it was that bad.

I know I didn't do it the easiest of ways, but I want to see what you all would have done! We are playing 8 ball people, not 9 ball! LOL Thanks in advance!

CueTable Help

After staring at this for a long time, I've come to the conclusion that you're not going to run it out.

If the 6-ball goes, then this is a runout table.

Obviously, the key is to break out the 6-ball, if it doesn't go. But, the 2-ball isn't great for a 6-ball breakout. And if the table is any tight, the 2-ball is just tease. You need to come across the 6-ball without trapping it there (double kiss) or without tickling the 8-ball. If either of these happens, then not only do you put yourself in just as bad a position, but it could end up actually worse. I think you're 70/30 to get bad after attempting to break out the 6-ball. I think this is a sucker shot that's going to end up in misery and a crap shoot in the end.

So, I'd go for the whole ball of wax by clearing out the 3/5, and playing for a bank on the 6-ball without disturbing the 8-ball. So, maybe 3/5 combo, 2-ball (trying to play for the 6-ball bank). And then it's clear. I think the key to clear the 6-ball without disturbing the 8-ball to at least give you the advantage if you miss the 6-ball.

So then I guess your saying I did this right, because I shot everything out, then shot the 6 on a bank without touching the 8. If I had missed the 6 then the 8 would have kept the 13 from going anywhere. Hopefully that is!

Ok the question is.... If you were to set that rack up exactly the same and then play it exactly the same way you did, ten times. how many times do you think you'd finish it! That would be the answer to whether you took them out right!

Yeah, I guess!!! Though, your out was one of those All-American outs from left field!!

In the end, you got the W, it took skill, and the runout required you to gut out a bank on the 6-ball. That's my take. And I think at the amateur level, that's going to win more often than lose. I'd rather see that bank on the 6-ball earlieir rather than later.
