How's that 6-ball coming, Fatboy?

hi there,

i havent hit a ball since my run of 5, I hada very bad reaction to some medicine they gave me, every bone in my body, especially at my feet and finger tips hurts so bad. I want to play bad but i cant, perhaps tonight, last night i slept 16 hours. what ever the hell they gave me didnt help my back and the side effects got me good.

when I made the 50 spot shots left to right Iwas playing my best and considered my self a weak A player at the time, I have never made more than 20 right to left, all shots for me left to right are easier, Long straight in shots re super easy, there is only one way to hit them, straight.

hopefully i can play tonight, i have no expectations, what ever happens happens, i'll report it.

best

Thank you to cigardave and Tommy-D to pointing out my misrepresentation of Accu-Stats. The guidlines are very interesting, but too subjective in my opinion. I just assumed a miss was a miss. Of course anytime I miss I'm sure it must've been harder than a spot shot and the position quite unavoidable, lol!

I played the Accu-Stat man himself, Pat Flemming, only once, and unfortunately for me, he pulled out a close match after I had a good lead in the beginning. He volunteered to me after the match that according to the stats, he played much better than me in the first half but was losing badly. Then I played much better than him in the last half, but lost. So I guess it's true there's, lies, damed lies, and statistics, lol.

His tapes are a great way to learn from the best. I just have a little problem with him since he was president of the MPBA when they screwed me out of a few thousand dollars I felt I had earned in free entry fees. Otherwise, he's a very nice, pleasant guy doing a good job of presenting pro pool.

I don't understand why these taped matches and the revenue they can generate are not the cornerstone of a successful players organization. I was to play Earl Strickland at the U.S. Open once and we were scheduled to play on the table being taped by accu-stats. Earl refused to play on that table because the players were not being compensated. He was so adamant that they did switch the table for our match.

Later I played matches on the accu-stat table late in a tournament only to find that the filmed table played much differently than the tables I had played all week. There were seven 500 watt Par 54 light cans above the table plus flourescent lights. The table and the balls were very warm to the touch and my head was about to catch on fire. The table was much drier than the others and I was much wetter, lol!

That's interesting fatboy. Do you play right handed? My practice now is based on my assumption that it's easier to play left english right handed and right english left handed. So playing the spot shot with outside english cutting left to right would be easier right handed.

As far as the back pain, their is a treatment called VAX-D, vertical axial decompression that worked for my 70 year old mother after the back surgeon told her she could not avoid major back surgery. She's 78 now and getting around very well, much better still than she did then. It's just a fancy computerized traction that pulls for a few seconds and relaxes and repeats. It draws fluid into the disks so that they can work like they're supposed to. It used to be approved by medicare but the doctor's lobby managed to get it unapproved cause it's not nearly as expensive as surgery.

After seeing the VAX-D presentation and how well it worked I started doing all kinds of stretches and exercises to do basically the same thing. Tai-Chi warmup exercises are very good also. I believe that almost any back problem can be cured with exercise and stretching. My shoulder being separated and dislocated all the time causes lots of back problems, so I'm constantly pulling them out. I'd advise you to avoid soft drinks and alcohol and anything else that's dehydrating.

Lately I can play pool much longer without hurting anything. Now if I can learn to not separate my shoulder in my sleep I might just get over my problems. Some days my back and shoulder are fine in the morning, lots of days I spend from 1 to 4 hours working to straighten them out. It's taken forever, but the more I do the better it gets, and you have to get it straight or everything you do will make it worse.

The players ARE compensated by Accu-Stats. He pays each player a dividend based on how many copies of the match are sold. I know Efren has gotten some healthy checks from Pat annually. His matches are consistently the best sellers. I'm sure Earl has been rewarded as well.

He probably just didn't want to play on that table, and made up an excuse. Earl is pretty clever that way. Sigel was the best at getting to play on the table that he liked. He worked every T.D. for years, sometimes successfully.

That's very good to hear, Jay. It appears I am totally misinformed. My sincere apologies to Pat and Accu-stats. I have viewed some of the tapes and they are excellent. I'm sure my checks haven't come in because no one wanted to see me get my butt kicked! I played a few times on taped tables but I'm not sure they were all by Accu-stats, as Camel I think filmed a few themselves. The ones I know were Accu-stats caught me on bad days that I'm sure wound up in the trash can.

Thanks for setting me straight.
