Talking with George Michaels the other day about these two playing golf and bettin high each hole, woofing and goin' at it with their caddie in tow.
Later in the round the caddie had to leave them before rounds end.
Then the caddie came back up to the two of em, pulled a gun to rob em.
Hubert usually carried 3 guns.
During the holdup Titanic fell to the ground in pain, distracting the man for just a moment, titanic pulled out His gun and killed shot em dead.

Glad you’re still in touch with George, Bill!

When I interviewed Fat's wife Evelyn 2 weeks after he passed, she said he an Hubert bet high locking horns in their youth, it was not about the money as it was about who's was better.

ti always had a gun and was in need of it something like 5 times. he would carry it in a chest holster and fake a heart attack and grab for his heart but out came the gun and shot the guy. he killed a t least five.
i met him but didn't get to know him. but got all the stories from his friends and those that knew and gambled with him.

he played golf just about pro speed and played both left and right handed the same speed.

Well “the story” and the “real story” aren’t even close. 🙄

I’ll trust the newspaper article in this instance.

The Biography of the “ Unsinkable Titanic” is a great read that you cannot put down. I read it about 30 years ago and then lost the book and couldn’t find it. So many stories about his travails but much of it does not get into his demons and from what I’ve heard he had plenty. For all the money he won, he was a sucker for the horses and lost big playing pool. Now a days, poker gets the pool players but back then it was the horses. The big three outta NY could have lived well had it not been for the horses. They were De Liberto, Jersey Red and Ervolino. They like Titanic list their bankrolls on the ponies. But I digress. The book is still out there. Get it and settle in for a fun read.

well most gamblers not dedicated to only betting on one sport usually all end up broke and die broke.

thats the way it works. if you bet on things with a negative expectation you lose at that exact rate.
horses with the breakage( the change that they round down to) runs up to around 24 percent.
and really gets to be a major factor in short priced ones.
