Wow, I'm enjoying this thread. Just to clarify, I did say that if I was in a "ball pocketing slump" (where pocketing a hanging ball became difficult), I would change my stroke. I certainly admit that other types of slumps exist, and other corrections may help those slumps. If you are having trouble on easy shots, though, you have mechanical flaws in my opinion.
The other thing I find interesting is that there are players here reporting, for lack of a better term, golf-type slumps (extended periods of bad playing, with new swing thoughts bringing instant improvement). I, and almost all other serious golfers, have been through these types of slumps. My opinion is that these slumps should NOT exist in pool if you have a simple stroke. The golf swing is an incredibly complex motion. The pool stroke can be an incredibly simple motion (though perhaps requiring more precision than is commonly thought by the casual player). I'll let you know if I ever have a slump - if I do I hope its like Bustamante's slump.
