Humidity

Dude. Try to get over the "unplug it at night" hangup. That thing is specifically made to run 24/7. Let it.
Yup.. when I had that issue I was lucky to have a french drain in that house. I hooked the tube to it so the water would drip in that and let it run all the time. I had no choice. I could dump that tub twice a day

Maintaining 50% RH indoors during a midwestern summer is good in my opinion.

I’ve got hygrometers running in both the house and detached pool room and they are steady 50% RH with AC set around 72/73F.

On the flipside winter gets considerably dry, and I actually need a humidifier in the pool room to keep the RH above 30%.

Ultimately, a 20% swing in humidity between summer/winter isn’t enough to negatively affect my level of play. It boils down to personal comfort.

I got my thermometer/hygrometer earlier today at Lowes in Vincennes. I've had it downstairs near the table for nearly four hours now. And I've had the dehumidifier running for the same amount of time.

The result so far:

Humidity - currently reads 66%
Ok that's a bit high. Do you have a basement door? If you do there's a few things you can do at that opening.

I highly suggest stripping your basement walls and coating them in DryLok with two coats. Otherwise you'll need two dehumidifiers running non-stop during summer.
