I'm in the same state as the OP. He posts about needing a new chalk, table, instructor, cue, plan for running out, book, DVD, gadget, whatever it is he posts about how it isn't working for him.

If you have a floor drain get a hose and connect it to the humidifier. Most have that option. Let it run 24/7 like I do. The cloth is still a bit slower in the summer time but 50% humidity isn't too bad. It makes me long for "winter conditions" though.
you have to run it constantly and drain the water out to do any good or the humidity just comes back.
an air conditioner is the best ticket for you . it cools the air and sends the water outside.
people have it wrong. warm air holds more water than cool air. so heating anything just makes the humidity worse.

every time even a minor warm front comes through if rains buckets as it slowly usurps the below avg temps
one of my very close friends had a table in his basement in the chi area, you very quickly learned how to use follow or you racked a lot

No it won´t. Last summer was very wet here in Finland and heated carom table was only table that played good..

A quick line to remember in high humidity is "slow cloth, fast rails". Esp if the cushions are older, the humidity fills the pores in the rubber and really firms them up. They get bouncy and bank/kick short. Cloth, on the other hand, gets muggy and slow.
Balls get a bit sticky too so kicks and throw increase. The adjustment here is to habitually play a touch of outside when possible which makes cuts behave more predictably.
Just play on any Diamond and you’ll know how to adjust

Its better to be heating a room initially, then run the dehumidifier at the same time. The dehumidifier cools down the air to extract the water. If you’re able to seal the room, then you don’t really have to do this all the time, you will see -30% in no time

but doesnt solve the op problem of wet cue grip and humidity. i was responding to help figure that out. not make his table play faster.
Wouldn't waterlogged rubber go dead? I would think the cushions speeding up is a function of the cloth slide diminishing.
I am going to get me a Hygrometer tomorrow at Lowe's. I want to see what my humidity is down in my basement.

30 to 50 is around what is good. if you can get it there.
if you have a dehumidifier it will show what it is. and you can buy a thermometer with a humidity dial also.
good luck with it. there are a few options some better than others .
at least have a fan which will evaporate the wetness of the table if it has any.
and after a time the humidity will return to normal times whatever that is.

I live in NC where the humidity is insane during summer. I run my dehumidifier on a tote to drain into so it doesn't stop because the tank is full. During summer I'll empty it every 3-4 days.
Outside of running another dehumidifier you can buy a bunch of Dry Lok and paint your cinder block walls

I got my thermometer/hygrometer earlier today at Lowes in Vincennes. I've had it downstairs near the table for nearly four hours now. And I've had the dehumidifier running for the same amount of time.
The result so far:

not bad at all you are getting into the ball park. you are moderately high and if you get below 60 you are fine.
you do need to run the hose out side or in a sink. as the bucket thing will overflow and make a mess the first time you forget to empty it.
