I am curious if my Joss 94-11 cue is worth getting refinished?

I would like to get some opinions on if my Joss 94-11 cue is worth getting refinished, and if a nice refinish job would improve the value as must as the $85 (plus shipping cost both ways) that it would cost me to get it refinished from proficient billiards? I have $225 invested in the cue, so would it be worth at least $325 if I were to get it refinished? I love the Mcdermott cue that I am currently playing with, so I never use the Joss anymore. So if I get it refinished, then it should look in new condition when it gets returned to me, and I will not be using it, so it will stay in that condition until I am able to sell it. I am just curious what the value of the cue would be in todays used cue market (if it were in I am guessing 98% condition, after being refinished)? Thanks for your opinions on if the cue is worth being refinished, and if that would increase the value by as much as it would cost me to get it refinished? I am guessing not, but I just wanted to get some opinions about it. I do not even know what the cue is really worth in its current condition. If you absolutely love ANY cue, it's worth refinishing. If that's the one, then get her shined back up.

Did you buy the cue new? I ask because the logo is the one that Joss used in the 1980s. I have a similar cue...and I like that phenolic joint.

If you really like the cue, I think $85 is very reasonable to get it re-finished. Personally, I'd put the re-finished value at $400 minimum.

I do not think the refinish will add $100 to the value, generally speaking you would need a cue in the $600-800 region before that starts to make sense and even then only if the finish is real bad.

No, I won the cue in an ebay auction a couple months ago. I am guessing I paid too much for it (in its current condition), because the butt below the wrap it pretty beat up. I think that the condition of the cue is why I have not been able to sell it, or maybe because this forum is mainly just for high end custom cues (so not much interested in low end production cues). Thanks for the other replies I received.

I did not know that Joss started using that logo (in the butt) back in the 80's. The cue is from the 94 Joss catalog, but I am not sure how many years after 94 that they were making the 94-11 model. I wish I had a Joss cue that was from the 80's. I really love the old Joss cues that say Joss Custom on the joint. I really love the phenolic joint too. I think it gives the cue a better hit then the stainless steal joints that are on most other Joss cues, and it looks much nicer in my opinion. Thanks.

I have an 80s Joss, no logo in the butt cap, but has the "Joss Custom" on the joint rings. I think the Joss logo on the butt cap emerged in the early 90s, but could be wrong. I'd get it refinished if I were you and I wanted to flip it...or even if you keep it and play with it. Nice cue, great colors!
