High Jennifer. You don't know me, but my daughter (then 10) and I watched you play in Laurel Md in the CAT tour. I was trying to get her interested in pool, so we sat close to your table. We probably bothered you by all the chomping we were doing on the burgers.

I remember that you shot like an SL 4 (strong) or a weak SL 5 and that your opponent had trouble racking the balls. I was in disbelief as it seemed that she took almost 10 minutes one time to rack the 9 balls - the one ball just wouldn't stay on the spot. You were remarkedly patient, especially after this continued to happen. That's when I couldn't stand it anymore and got up and left.

Then my wife and I came the following year to the same pool hall and I was watching you shoot from afar. Being married of course to the cutest poolplayer ever and not looking at your good looks, I only noticed that you had a very very smooth stroke and were shooting balls in with a great deal of professionalism (I mean the cueball floated around perfectly with just the correct amount of speed). I asked Amanda who you were and she said :"that's Jennifer Berretta, the top player on the CAT tour". I took another look and at once recogized you from the previous year, and I must say that I could not believe that you were the same person whom I had watched previously. At once I predicted that you would go very far in pool, after all who in the world could make so much progress in a year, especially starting at such a late age. Why did I think this? Because you have the talent IMO and more importantly the desire to come that far that fast.

I am very much impressed with your success and wish you the best of luck.

Hi WW,

I know who you and your wife are, although I don't remember when you were there with your daughter, but I will say that when I am at the table I rarely notice anything outside of the 4 rails! I think we were introduced through either Holly Ryan or Carol Clark. My progress in that one year is directly related to my working with my coach, Stu Mattana, and of course putting in my customary 6-8 hours a day! I completely agree with you that desire is the most important ingredient for improving at anything. I hope to see your daughter on the pro tour some day!
