I don't understand why a maker would finish over linen...

I have a few wrapless cues and the rest linen. I like the look of a linen wrap
but not the rough texture. Finishing over them gives the best of both.

It always seemed cheap to me....
But it will keep your wrap looking nice for a really long time!
The only real reason I would want a wrap is for the FEEL of it, not the looks. (Possibly excepting some crazy wrap design)
If I'm going to have a finish in the handle area, I'd much rather see a nice wood or other material there, than a wrap.

It's easy to understand. IMO. Looks of a classic with feel of a wrap wrapless. Not a fan but I understand. I don't think it's as much the dirt factor bc even black is covered
I've seen some plain white wrapped cues that are coated. If done with the right combo, it is nice lookin. The whole thing about it is, it's just something creative and different.
