Chuck: I'm not defending Predator's predatory pricing practices. But, if you shop around you should be able to get a predator shaft for $130 or something like that. Not many cues worth buying are that cheap, in my opinion. You're right though, in that many people buying a complete predator cue are paying considerably more than the bare minimum it takes to get a good solid cue. I've played with a $100 cue for a few years (brunswick), and it came apart at the joints. Played with a $300 Joss, and it never had a problem in 8 years of heavy use. Loved it. Now I play with a custom cue, and love it too...but it didn't make me a better player. Just happier. Ha ha ha.

My opinion: If you want a predator cue, go buy a falcon 'cause it is cheaper and then add on a predator shaft. Falcon makes most of the predator cues anyway.

Oh i have shot with a predator more then once. I share a locker with a friend who has a preadtor shaft on his schon and i use it alot when i dont want to use my cue. But my dominiak has a dominator shaft which is an 8 piece shaft. so its not much different.

funny guy you are! Predator doesn't make you better, but they are good cues, if you know how to use them. To judge a Predator after using one time isn't right. They keep their value pretty well, especially if you take care of them. You should invest in one, play with it for a while to get used to it...then if you still don't like it, sell it. The mechanics to it makes the hit different from most cues. The spin takes off more, and you don't have put on as much english. Read Cue of Fury's post about his new z-shaft...he explains it well!
It is a 314, not a Z. :)

just kidding. what is the purpouse of this then? one might ask?, well, it's simple, as much as some out there would love to believe in santa, and the tooth fairy, they are the same people who believe in a magic cue. their waiting for that "thing" that certain somwthing to, make them never miss again. well WAKE UP! there is no magic cue, it's what you like and what feels good in your own, hands, not mine. give me a $75 orchid cue with no wrap, a plain jane( if you will) and with a decent lay of the table after the break, i'll run out. as long as the tip is scuffed, and the master chalk is holding, i'm a happy guy. people, please--- don't OVERpay for your cues! if you spend $200 for a cue, it should last you the rest of your life, and it should win you many tournaments. why spend $2000, when you could spend $200 for the exact same result~~~~~~~~~~ pocketing balls, getting position and winning tournaments. keep your feet on the ground, and take notes on souquet, fisher and van den berg, i promise you, that you will benifit more, by studying these players, than investing in a $2000 cue.yours truely, bernie.

Stop writing with a subject that doesn't have anything to do with your text !!

And stop flooding this forum, especially with your stupid made-up subjects !!

Your narrowminded posts degrade this forum !

Get a life.

First off, I am a hack. Just recently became serious about trying to learn the game. For my first cue, I bought a production cue (Joss). I wanted my cue to feel familiar so I could concentrate on learning cue ball control etc.

While my prowess (or lack thereof) on the table does not come close to warranting a high end custom cue, I am still shopping for one for the following reasons:

1) I have been fortunate enough to be allowed to hit a number of high end cues. Even with me being a rank beginner, I noticed that they feel different. While I preferred my cue to 1 of them, one in particular "sang" in my hands. I dont have the experience to explain why. Did I shoot better ? Yes and no. While I didnt go from hacking with my Joss to running rack after rack, I did seem to aim a little better and cut a little thinner. It really was all about the feel of the cue inspiring confidence. Notice I said FEEL and not COST. It could have been a 50.00 cue.

2) Cue making is one of the last american bastions of creating something from scratch where form and function meld. I can't help but to be in awe over some the inlay and veneer work. To me, a custom cue from a talented and respected cue maker is a sound purchase, even though the level of my play fails to justify the cost. It may hang on a wall in a case, or it may go to the pool room. Regardless, I will be both ecstatic and honored to own something that someone put many hours of there life into creating.

Now if you elect to have your boxers, briefs, underoos, panties made out of Simonis (sp?) cloth, you may want to consider some therapy !

IF THERE WAS ANY DOUBT YOU ARE TRULY THE WORLDS DUMBEST HUMAN AND PREMIER MORON IN POOL YOU NOW ERASED ALL DOUBT OF THIS. ANY $75 cue is a Chinese piece of crap with a 5 cent tip on it. Why do you people even respond to this insane dribble and why does it even gather responses. The only response to this guy is zero response.

... this scenario is something to think about. But some won't think about it very long, because they can afford something nice or at the very least they believe this new Cue (or new to them) will be their MAGIC WAND . I can't for the life of me, understand spending $1500 up & waiting 5 or 6 years for a Southwest Sneaky Pete Cue, but there are folks that will do this. (NO specific direction or manufacture targeted, as there are lots of other expensive Cue Makers in this country). Hell, I might be dead or have quit this crazy game in that length of time. Some will say, it's an investment...BS, there are several High Dollar Cues for sale, waiting for someone that can afford to purchase one. It's a matter of affording o9ne.

I had a Pechauer with a radially laminated shaft & I swear it was a MAGIC WAND, but I upgraded to a high-dollar Custom Cue. But my new cue is another MAGIC WAND, maybe even a better one.

I truly believe people are always trying to better themselves. We buy better Autos, Homes, Clothes & Sports Gear as long as we can afford it. A new car might get better gas mileage, a new home might be closer to work & a new Pool Cue might give you the confidence to win the price of it from your local buddies whacking the Cue Ball with a Mac or a Moochie, wishing they had a Custom Cue too.

A great Pool Cue is like a Sex Organ, you make love with it on a Pool Table ... the difference is you don't always get a Climax... who's fault is that???? Not the Custom Pool Cue..!
