I bought a becue shaft to fit my mcdermott sunday night. Like others have stated on here several times...i need a new cue like a snail needs air brakes.
I have 3 team mates on 2 teams that have switched to be cue shafts on their existing butts and swear by them. One sold his revo ...one replaced his z2 and the other replaced his meucci black dot. Well actually several other players in the room have switched to be cue shafts also but i have not met any one with a full be cue shaft and butt.
I had been thinking about getting a be cue shaft for a while but had other financial priorities.
It was actually a spur of the moment buy while the room owner had been showing a few other guys some shafts. I went up and asked him if he had one to fit my mcdermott pin and lo and behold he had one so i said i will take it.
Now get this. I put the shaft on my mcdermott and reach over to put my meucci gambler with a meucci carbon pro on it back in the case. I knock over the mcdermott and thankfully it fall towards the carpet and not the concrete . i thought. ....damn what a way to start off with a brand new shaft . btw...this is the first time i have ever knocked over a cue. Also thankfully there was no damage to the shaft...not even a scuff anywhere.
So 15 minutes later i match up with a 6 in our 8 ball playoffs without ever hitting a single ball with this shaft. Also i had not played with the mcdermott in about 6 months because my meucci was my main player.
I win the toss and dry break. My opponent runs the table and wins the first rack. I win the next 4 racks in a row winning 4-1 in a 4-5 race.
About 45 minutes later i play a 7 in our 9 ball playoffs. As usaul for my 9 ball matches it starts out ugly for me. I win the toss and dry break he runs a bunch of balls . i run a couple and he sinks the 9. He breaks dry and i am hooked resulting in bih and he runs several balls again.
To make a long story short i win 46- 54 in a 46-55 race. I look over the scoresheet later and at one point he had me down 47-28. It was around that time that i had changed up my break because what i was doing was not working . actually he had a lot of dry breaks also but i was always hooked whereas i usually left him a shot.
Anyway after i changed my break i started gaining on him scoring 18 points to his 7 to win the match.
Not saying the be cue is the nuts but it says something about the shaft when you can play as well as i did in those 2 matches without ever hitting a ball with it first. I guess its the meuccis turn to sit in the case for a while...maybe permanently.
