I need to know from other users if mine is normal, when you flip the switch to on after 1/2 second or so the motor spins about 3 or 400 rpms and will not completly stop. Is there an adjustment I need to make or is this the way it is supposed to be, the dc motor and controller Lee sold me on his lathe is instant on when you turn the knob and stops when you turn it counter clockwise. Let me know if yours is the same please.--Leonard

The PS motor has a starting delay in it. That protects the motor. It also has minimum and maximum speed settings internally. Do not set them to make it stop when you rotate the dial all the way down. Leave a little slow speed when you adjust the little pods inside. If you don't you might burn your motor or controller up.

What Motors?

hi,

Does anyone know what motors and variable speed controller Unique uses? They work very good and stand up for the long haul. Very reliable with zero maintenance.

The boards in the Unique DC motor controllers are the same as what Porper uses in his "B" lathe.
High quality stuff from MINARIK
Dont know where they get the motors but they do seem to be very durable.
Have ran several of them for years with zero problems.
