This is so disingenuous. Contrary to you, I've decided to learn this language, I've chosen to learn about this county, and it was solely my chose to move here. While you, I guess, were merely born here -- I'm I right? If so, how patriotic is that?!

Again, your "question" is so insincere.

All of those words and no answer.

Yes of no will do.

Steve
Born here (USA) and yes I do love this country.

In fairness to JoeyA. The post he was responding to was wording in such a manner as to beg the question as to whether or not you loved this country. Personally, I don't think it matters whether or not you do as long as you treat it with respect as long as you're here, which you appear to be doing.
Enjoy America as long as you like.

hes saying yes he does with a rhetorical spin of "if he didnt love this country why would he go through all of that trouble to be here"

In this billiard forum it is sometimes difficult to understand the nuances of what is posted as there is no inflection in the printed word and if it is merely the difficulty of expressing yourself in a new language you have my sincerest apologies. I can only be envious of those who have opted to learn a language other than their own native tongue.

I have enjoyed your music, your skill in writing the English language and am attempting to understand your humor, your personal and Norwegian perspectives.

If your choice of words in the post I referred to about your words "(nor people who love this country)" was meant to insinuate that you didn't love this country then I take exception with you and umbrage to your presence in it and this applies to anyone whether they be born here, a new immigrant or are just visiting.

This country is suffering with many problems and we will continue to deal with those problems but for now, warts and all, it is still the greatest country on earth and millions of people from all over the world WOULD give anything TO LOVE AND LIVE IN THIS COUNTRY.

Your post hit a nerve and I read your post as: "I do not condemn anyone who loves this country" (which to me meant that you are not one of those who loves this country) and for the record, I am very sincere about my post.

How did we end up here? peer merely stated he thought the guy may have a gun because of the bumper stickers, some of which he said were not so nice. just because he has "we support the troops" & other pro gun stickers on his vehicle does not mean he is a good guy. Judging from the inside of his car [trash everywhere] & the other bumper stickers it would appear that he has no respect for himself or others, which would lead me to believe that he is a bigmouth looking for trouble. I would have thought the same thing, only I would have kicked ALL the windows out of his car. I am sick of people thinking they can damage my property & get away with it. I spent about 320 days out of my home state last year for work so I can have nice things. I'm not going to let some A-HOLE damage it no matter how many I LOVE AMERICA STICKERS he has on it. By the way I'm currently away from home for work & have been playing pool with JOEYA he is a great guy. I think PEERS comment about the bumper stickers was taken the wrong way which tends to happen when talking about a very sensitive issue. YEAH I KNOW PARAGRAPHS.

I'm not sure how you got to this conclusion, (perhaps in your mind I'm confusing condemn with condone...?)

Anyways, as Cubc eluded to, please realize that I have chosen to live here, while most of you have not. Hence, ask yourself; who of us love this country the most -- someone who's merely born here or someone who has been living all over the world but yet chose, the hard way, to live here..?!

I'm sorry, but those comments of yours remind me of this phony patriotism that I often see here. Rather than "love it or leave it" I'd say "if you really love it, why don't you also wanna improve it". Better is better... and that's why I love to live here.

I just wanted to convey my concern at the time that this person might have packed a gun -- and, as I stated, since I'm someone who tend to back off when it comes to physical confrontations (especially involving firearms) I fled the scene.

More people are killed by DRUNK & IMPAIRED, Drivers in the US Annually than by Guns. Also if you really think of it driving sound in that little sports car in also talking a major chance with you life, and you are like an ?Ant? if run over by some Bad Truck, SUV, are 18 Wheeler.

Most Gun Owners are responsible people, like most drivers, you got got to watch out for the bad of both in both groups.

Thanks Tim, but the lowly medals that I earned for my service to our country in war are nothing compared to many of our heroes that suffered and gave so much. I was merely a grunt dodging booby-traps and getting shot at & trying to get in my licks when opportunity presented itself.

Just for the record my most treasured decoration was a simple combat action ribbon, nothing more but something that I am very proud to have earned and trust me, I earned it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Action_Ribbon)

In my service, I didn't sustain any physical injuries except for a self-induced, accidental pounding of an entrenching tool into my shin bone which layed me up for a few days. :o I lost my fire team leader, my squad leader and many other fellow soldiers. My own brother suffered far more losses than I or most could ever imagine with his two tours of duty in Vietnam. He is my heroe.

No bronze stars for me, no silver stars and no congressional medal of honor, no Purple heart and no POW-MIA medal. The people who earned those and other similar type decorations are my heroes.

I use the POW-MIA logo on my cue, my case and this forum to honor POW's, MIA's and all of our soldiers so that they will not be forgotten.

I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about my service or my avatar. There are others on this forum and other places that have earned your appreciation far more than I ever did but I thank you for the kind words and your warm, generous partiotism.

Peer, there's nothing phony about my patriotism but I will be examining yours in the future far more closely. I'm looking forward to hearing about your contributions on improving this great country which is going through some terrible times.

Glad you love to live here.
Hope you love this country.
Hope you make your own personal contribution to improving it.

Why is it that you need to "examining" my patriotism "far more closely"...?

I'm sorry if I'm a bit prejudicial here, but the word that comes to mind is phony.

Maybe because I could be mistaken about your patriotic fervor for our country and I hate to be mistaken about something like that.

I really hate to come to conclusions but the way you beat around the bush about whether you love this country or simply love living in it seems phony to me.

JoeyA

Nothing phoney here!

This is directed to Peer and Peer alone and not to include any other non citizens of the USA.

I do not possess the expertise of language skills of JoeyA, so this may be rather blunt and to the point.

I do not believe that you love this country. I believe that you love being in this country and taking advantage of what this country can do for you. There are many others, I am sure that are the same and if you live within the laws I do not have a problem with that. Just man up and say you don't, it will be okay.

Until you can show me one of these I will hard pressed to believe that you do love this great country.

Aw well -- boo hoo. Although I hesitate to sit on a high-horse here, yet I would like to ask you to compare me to the majority of the population of this country and then make an assessment of who you think actually "love this country the most" -- and more so, "who do you think put most effort into being a part of it."

My gut feeling is that most of you, who are born here, have no idea what shitload of bureaucracy we foreigners have to go through.

To even suggest that I don't love this country is just an insult.

What's also ironic is those so-called "patriotic" guys (not necessarily you, Joey) who have no idea of the history of this great nation. Again, the words disingenuous and phony come to mind.

Okay I've figured it out. You're (by your own admission) a yellow-belly face-to-face, but you seem to be quite a tough-guy on the internet. Maybe the guy who spit on your car detected the Euro superiority complex I'm also detecting. I wouldn't have taken it out on your car though, I'd go right to the source.:)

Okay, so you are a standup guy then, we must assume. So what's your name? My name is Peer Landa.

My name is Bryan Jay. What does my name or your name have to do with the current topic?

Being a yellow-belly and afraid of meeting someone face-to-face, perhaps..?
