I Have a crazy question because maybe I'm crazy......

I recently got a new Bob Frey sneaky pete. It's pretty good as expected but just doesn't suit my style.

A while back a buddy of mine who is a huge Meucci guy bought a Pro shaft and he absolutely hates it because he is so used to the deflection. I hit some with it and liked it.

I want to get the shafts from him because I could get it much cheaper than buying a new one. Problem is out of the 12+ cues I own, none of my pins match the shafts threads. Now my buddy has an extra original gambler that he isn't using.

I was considering trading him my Frey sneaky for the gambler butt and his pro shaft as I don't want other need the original shaft. Am I crazy even thinking about this trade or would anyone else do it? Would better option be for me to just buy the shaft from him & purchase another cheap butt.

You could have a cue repair person plug the Meucci shaft and redo it for whatever joint pin you want. You'd have to weigh the cost of that (plus the cost of the used shaft) against the other alternatives.

It's your stuff so if that's what you want then no your not crazy. Dollars and cents wise and desirability wise prob. You prob can sell the Frey for a good amount. You actually prob could sell the Frey shafts for near what it would cost to buy the shafts you really want. While I know there are folks that do, I personally don't hold Meuccis in real high regards. I think the gambler is collectable though no? What kind of sneaky did you buy? What do you want for the stick? For the shaft only?

Don't trade him. Call Frey up and ask him to get a blank Pro shaft and make it to match your sneaky. If you want to sell the cue later you could sell the Frey easier than the Gambler.

Don't know what you paid for the Frey SP and what the resale value is, but Gamblers are in demand and resell pretty well on the Facebook Meucci groups. I've seen them go for $400+ used depending on model (hearts, spades, Royal, etc.). Some are more in demand than others.

Just buy the shaft a Meucci gambler butt.....not a terrible investment.....
...and you're obviously not averse to adding to your collection.
Keep the Frey....it's a much better cue and your tastes may change.

Yes. It is illegal. Punishment for the crime is banishment from any pool related establishment for a period of 3 years.

If you do trade it for the Meucci, well, that's your right. But karma can suck and I feel confident something bad might happen.

I think what I'm going to end up doing is ordering a 3/8x10 joint pro shaft at 30" because I like the longer cue. That way I could use the shafts on 11 of 13 cues I will have. I would also be able to keep the frey.
