I have rescinded my name...

Hi all... I doubt this even qualifies as news lol, but unfortunately I have had to rescind my name from the IPT.

Two months ago, I was laid off from work at NYU. I knew that if I were to get another job before the IPT began, I'd have to remove my name from consideration. This week, I was lucky enough to receive an offer (maybe even two ;)).

So it is with a certain amount of regret that I write this. However, it also assuages the considerable guilt I was feeling about being selected over obviously more qualified candidates.

I wish everyone involved the best of success... I hope this venture does indeed accomplish all it is striving for. And good luck to all who show up in Florida as an alternate... there's an open spot out there up for grabs now ;).

There should be no regrets here, Steve. Everyone on the forum knows you play great pool, but fewer know that you are an exceptionally bright, well-educated, and versatile guy with a lot to contribute in many ways outside of pool. NYU erred when they let you go, but I couldn't be happier for you that you've landed a new job and wish you every possible success.

Best of luck in your new endeavors and with any luck, once you get situated, you can take another crack at it.

Regards,
Koop

Steve, good luck on whatever you do!.....I always like to think, I'm not sure why "whatever" is happening, but the reasons will reveal themselves, and it will all make sense in time!......whatever you do, don't stop playing....Gerry

Steve, I'm sorry to here this news. I believe you are just as qualified, if not more so, than others on the list. However, I do understand that a steady job comes first.
Good luck with the new job.

Da**. I was looking forward to rooting for you Steve.

I understand the layoff thing. It happened to me this year too and it can disrupt your life for a while. Best of luck with the new gig.

BTW from what I hear, I think you were qualified.

Steve,,,,, i am so sorry to hear about your getting laid off from NYU. Like someone else said. They lost a good person. It saddens me to see that you had to withdraw your name from the IPT. But you definately know what is best for you and your current situation. I am just as glad to see that you have a couple of offers in hand. Please keep me posted as to how things go.........mike

Thanks everyone, for your good wishes. I was very happy and fortunate to get these two offers; it's definitely eased my mind quite a bit.

I am also happy to learn that it seems the IPT players are excited about what they are being told. I really hope everything works out, and I look forward to getting to watch some of these tournaments!

Thanks again everyone!
