I hit with a Minnesota Fats cue yesterday! I can't believe how crappy it felt. And once the ferrel came right off the end. We fixed that problem by installing the screw on tips though. It didn't help the play ability of the cue, but it was sure easy to change the tips after that. This cue even came with the $5 soft sided case. I am not sure how much protection it offers, but how could you go wrong for $35.

I think I am going to get rid of my custom cue and get a couple of these things!

Har Har Har, LOL, I'll have you know my first cue was a Minnesota Fats! I purchased it at a leasure store, and took my time and picked out the best one of the bunch. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew the shaft needed to be straight and that the wrap needed to be tight and smooth. It was my first cue, and due to sentimental reasons I've kept it around. The ferrule has been replaced with a fibre ferrule, and the shaft has been re-tapered. It's dead straight, and solid, I'm very surprised at how well it hits actually (after the mods.) Here is my first cue...

... BTW I only paid 30 bucks for it!

Hahaha check out the advertising!

The first cue I bought here was a Minnesota Fats & for $40 ain't too bad. It's now become my break cue & does a reasonable job, it just needs someone to do a better job of the break!

Spencers

My first cue was a Bud Light cue from Spencer's!

Oddly enough someone was shooting our bar league with one of those last night! LOL

First cue I ever owned was a K-Mart Special. I bought it over 25 years ago. I still have it. It doesn't have a brand name on it anywhere, but has a healthy dose of fake mother-of-pearl at the bottom of the butt and at the brass joint. I have shortened it slightly and put a Mooseshead bridge head onto it. It is in the corner of my home poolroom. I didn't know enough about how a cue was "supposed" to hit back in the day I was using it so I can't give a report on how it felt.
Strangely, this cues shaft is STILL straight even after years of sitting out in my hot/cold garage in a soft case. Unbelievable!!!

Same deal with mine, 33 years and still straight as an arrow, and it was shortened also, but that was when I had the Screw on ferrule replaced with a fibre ferrule and normal tip.:)
