I just ordered my 1st Gracie Cue

Well, I couldn't take looking at the design and not buying one so I just finalized my transaction with Gracie on my 1st custom cue (great communication by the way).

-8 points ( 4 high, 4 low ) of ebony
-black and white knuckled rings
-wrapped in black leather
-5/16 x 18 joint pin
-ivory buttcap, ferrule & joint
-12.75 mm pro tapered shafts
-58 inches
-19.30 oz.

I know it's probably not much for some of you "big guns" out there, but for a lowly little shooter like myself...I'm pretty excited :)


P.S. Hopefully the international shipping isn't to much of a pain in the @ss, but I guess time will tell.
 
I can tell which shaft you will like better.
Ivory on cues are red flags at the customs.

I second the motion. Damn, I sure hope that's not ivory 'cause if it is and it's being shipped FedEx, somebody from Fish and Wildlife up in Alaska is gonna get a new cue. If it's being shipped EMS or another courier, I'd say your chances are 50/50. Not posting this to be a jerk. I hate to see honest people and honest money get burned. Especially pool players that are excited about getting a new cue.

It's Ivorine-3 I believe, so I should be ok. Gracie has shipped quite a few cues to the U.S. and I haven't heard/read of any reported problems as of yet....but I'm keeping my fingers crossed (being shipped via FedEx I believe).

No insults or anything taken and I appreciate the info and concerns.


Joey, just out of ignorance, which shaft do you think will play better?
 
Imported Qs w/ivory

I have 2 Qs I bought from the Philippines, direct from the maker. One loaded with ivory from stem to stern, and the other with ivory inlays in the butt and forearm. Yes, it is real ivory as u can easily c the xing in the grain. I do know that much of the ivory from the Philippines is harvested from tame, worker elephants. I hope that was the case on mine. Both are signed Gracie Cortes and 1/1. Both are great shooters, although I did buy Tiger X shafts for them which come with Sniper tips. I like the more firm, solid hit.

I do not recall how they were shipped, but both arrived with no problems that I know of. On the one loaded with ivory, the box had been opened. Maybe I just got lucky. :D

I just sent a cue overseas using fedex and never had problems. I will never do it again, too stressful after hearing some other peoples problems.
 
Make sure they guarantee the straitness of their shafts. I own five cues from the Philippines and four of their shafts warped within three months. For the price, their cues are amazing, but I suggest replacing all of their shafts with domestic ones of your choosing. The warping has to do with using wood that is not aged and also the differences in climates. Good luck. Beautiful cue.
 
Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm going to keep the shafts, but I plan on getting a domestic shaft for it, there's no point in not taking advantage of wonderful U.S. technology :)
 
Gracie will be shipping the cue via EMS, apparently there not as picky as FedEx for international shipping.

I will say that Gracies customer service has been amazing! We've probably exchanged 15 e-mails since the e-bay transaction and he is very prompt with replies to questions and is even going above and beyond with a couple requests I had. Definatly great guy to work with.

5-7 business days and I'll be sure to post some pictures and report how the overall transaction went.
 
Still waiting for the cue to arrive. It was shipped from Manila on the 22nd, it will be here sometime this week.
 
I received my gracie cue a couple days ago. I must say, I'm very impressed with how the transaction went. Shipping was very fast, the cue left the Philippines on the 22nd and got here on the 28th.

The cue itself looks great, points and everything are perfect, excellent craftsmanships. I showed the cue to a local cue friend who's in the business and he said is was absolutely the best leather wrap job he has seen, he was very impressed (and that takes a good bit).

I haven't hit to much with it, picked it up from the Post Office and dropped the shafts off to my local cue friend to have snipers installed. I'll be picking it up today after work and hitting some racks with it....this will probably be the longest day of work ever lol
