I know I should have known better

Have you ever played with those set of balls where the 7 and the 4 are almost identical colors? Well I have and being color blind and stupid, I had BIH on the 4 ball and shot the 7 by mistake and my opponent called me on it... so he got BIH and apologized for not telling me because he didn't notice it until after I shot.

Well, I had my head hanging down while he took BIH and after he took his first shot, I looked up to see what shape he had on the 5. Lo and Behold.... he had taken BIH and shot the 7 instead of the 4. .... I chuckled quietly to myself and then announced the 4 was still on the table.... we both laughed. Two dummies at the same table... I felt redeemed.

So you missed the 7 with ball in hand ?

I do it every single time I play tournament on Friday night. I had know idea as to why until I just read one of the post here where one of the guys plays with different color balls. I play at home with aramith balls you know the ones made for TV and they are a different color than the regular aramith balls.

Ever have it happen to you?

Yes. You feel so dumb when it happens. Good time to remind yourself to look at least 3 balls ahead before every shot. I've got one that's even stranger.

I'm playing 9 ball and my opponent breaks and scratches. I take ball in hand and place it down to shoot the one ball, which is tied up. I reach over and move the one ball!! Seemed perfectly normal until my opponent says "What the $%&$ are you doing?". I left the one ball where it now layed and gave him BIH.

I almost always drank when I played/gambled. I could write a book of the stupid stuff I've done on a pool table. Last time was when I was playing sets of 9-ball for $50 a set race to 5. In the first game of the match I broke, made a ball and made all kinds of cicucs shots to keep the table even though my postion was horrible. Well there were about a dozen or so people around the table and I was doing my Vincent thing...even twirled the stick once. I get to the 9-ball which was by far the easist shot I had in the game. I got down on the 3-foot shot and aimed. Then I turned around and looked at the guy I was playing and said, "everybody's doing it", as I fired the shot into the rail an inch from the pocket. We were playing in an APA cities tournament in Charlotte NC a few years ago and our six runs out to the last solid and gets down over the cueball looking at the 8ball to see where he needs to be we think, but he fires in the 8ball out of turn. He was a little nervous up untill then, after that he went all to hell. Our team captain a 5 says I'll win this for us, I ain't never lost in the cities. A sweet little brunette 4 clubbed him like a seal 2 to nothing and we got the free trip back home.--Leonard
