I Know What This Cue Is - Do You?

Bill Schick, Paul Rubino, quite many people know a tremendous amount about George's cues. It is not rocket science, if you know the things to look for and have handled/slightly dissected many of them. George stuck to/used certain things quite a bit.

Totally agree with you. And yet, we have an opinion from someone who thought it was a Schuler.

You can't make this stuff up.

All the best,

I consider Joe (and others) very knowledgeable about Balabushkas and am very respectful of Joe's knowledge, considering he is partners with a very knowledgeable Balabushka collector (who was collecting before collecting Balabushkas were in vogue). But, I would think Joe would also say that the Tascarellas are THE experts and he would defer to Pete's opinion.

Freddie

You think MarkyMark would defer as well?

It was Mark who made sure I got with Pete Tascarella for my Balabushka article. Maybe "defer" isn't the right word, but I would think Mark would also make sure that anyone who had a questionable cue, Pete would be the authority.

no doubt

Time to let the cat out of the bag. This was one of Dean's theme cues made by
Eddie Wheat. This was the only one made as Dean wanted to use his Wheat
Bucks to pay Eddie. E. W. said the expiration date was past and all production
ground to a stop. Very rare and collectible one of a kind cue that hits a ton.

Thanks... IMHO there are only three letters I want to see on a Bushka, Petes, Rubino, and Marks, if I am a buyer. The issues tend to be, who do you like the most, and unfortunately how much BS is on the internet regarding the issue. Trust me when I tell you that all 3 can disagree or agree on the same cue at any time. I have been right there with Mark and Pete discussing Bushka cues, especially at SBE. Its interesting to say the least.

Thankfully Bushka identification is the LEAST of the cue markets problems at this point.

Thanks, Joe. We are for sure on the same wavelength on this.

Lol ok I will but who do I owe $100 to?

Just send the $100 to AZ, and we'll split it up.

I'm just kidding, of course. Keep your money. This is a charitable group.

Enough have been taken to the woodshed on this one, trust me.

As always, helps to know your facts before you have an opinion.

After reading this thread and the other thread, all I know is if you have a Bushka, get it to Pete, or Paul, or Mark right away, get your letters now, because in 20-25 years, it will be a complete FUBAR...

nice coincidence:

another friend came into the same room yesterday and wanted to show me his cue. It's another bushka with the same clear acrylic section and rings as the bushka I began this thread with. This one from yesterday was purchased by yet another friend I shoot with directly from George in the early 60's and his name remains inside the acrylic.

This one has a Spain blank compared with the first one in this thread which is a titlist.

I got to hit some balls with it and if I had a 3rd thumb I'd have given it all three up. Sweeeet hitting cue!

best,
brian kc

Those are two absolute gems of cuemaking. I suspect these were in the period when George was maybe influenced a bit by the work of Frank Paradise and Gene Balner, with the clear window buttsleeves. At least I don't think it was the other way around. Great cues.
