I met an "instructer" LOL

Do the certified instructors meet anywhere like a expo or Vegas national for a meet and greet type thing? I would love to see a few, play or hit balls at least and I m sure instructor seekers would like to pick one that communicates well with them!

Funny. I guess Jack Grout had to give Nicklaus 4 a side in their Nassau bet. Hank Haney and Butch Harmon could easily handle Tiger in their matches, but both choose to teach instead of making millions of $$ on tour.

Another stupid quote; "Those that can do, do, those that can't teach"

Yeah, traveling pro pool players have such a wonderful life and make soooo much money, why would they ever want to settle down, own a home, have a wife and kids and teach the game for a living?

I ran into a pool room owner in California back in the early 90s who was BCA certified (he had papers on the wall to prove it); and he swore you couldn't masse a ball without raising the butt of the cue above your shoulder. I masse'd the CB around a full ball and was nowhere near my shoulder and his response was that's not a masse. He was full of little truisms like that--absolutely clueless. Not knocking the proven instructors or their certifications, just saying they're some out there--"instructors" with very little knowledge, forget about playing. I learned libraries full of information from a couple of road players that "adopted" me when I was learning who had no certifications other than their battle scars.

There are tons of certified instructors out there that are well worth the money; but I think you need to network a little to find the good ones.

One of the best "lessons" I ever got was from a then road player.
 
I guess the tip off should have been the graphite shaft attached to a wood butt this "instructor" was using.
He also had a stack of papers illustrating basic drills that have been around for at least 60 years that i know of.
Every one he set up I learned back in the early 60's.
