I need a Name for this conditon

In our league, which is Valley, you've got 6 through 10. 6's are beginners and 10's are the very best so (very few of those)
, an 8+ would be a reasonably good shooter.

Winner winner, chicken dinner !!

Why do they start at 6? Very odd. Are they trying to make the bad players feel better? Also, only 4 rankings between beginners and the best players is very little for a handicap. I don't know of any league that only has 4 ratings, and none at all that start at a higher number. Imagine playing a pro as a D player and playing like a 6-10 race?

We only have 4 rankings for our weekly 9-ball handicapped tournament, which are all games on the wire spots, no ball spots. The max spot between the lowest and highest rank is a 2-5 race.

Our reasoning is to maintain the legitimacy of the tournament by not allowing a novice player to win a match by winning only one game, often on one shot, likely either a lucky shot or a 9-ball hanger in the pocket.

Yes, our tournaments are unquestionably weighted towards favoring the higher ranked players, and likely that’s because I as a tournament director and room owner are one of those higher ranked players.

My thoughts are that playing in our tournaments is a learning experience, to hopefully give the lower ranked players something to strive for and the motivation to pay their dues to improve, if they want it bad enough.

The bottom line is we really don’t encourage recreational level players to play in our tournament, but if they wish to pay their $20 and play with the max handicap they are given (which is most likely not enough to beat a highly skilled player) they are welcome to give it a shot.

For many of them, when matched up against a high ranked player, it’s likely the first time in their life they have ever played pool against a player capable of breaking and running out a rack, and/or playing a lock down safety shot, and it’s a real eye-opener that will hopefully bring them back!

OK, Kids, I need a $20.00 medical term (that’s big, nearly unpronounceable and unrecognizable) that would describe the condition of someone who scratches WAY more then they should for being a level 8+ player. This fellow is a pretty darn good shot but seems to have a demon that makes him scratch unpredictably and often. It’s really funny and I want to ’name’ his condition for him. LOL !! Thanks for whatever you come up with.
Not sure about the condition, but it sounds like the poor fellow is in dire need of a Shortendofthestickectomy.
😁

Latin term for it is 'chokinus dogginus'. Its contagious so stay the fk away. ;)

Well, to be straight up.. This is technically an "attention deficit disorder". Cuz one would expect to learn common ball paths off of common shots if they played enough to be an 8+ player. If that player keeps scratching, they are obviously not paying attention to expected ball paths.

OR... They play very poor position, getting thin on everything, and make it up with shotmaking. I have murdered so many bar table players who were very fine shotmakers.

Not everybody can go three rails off every shot like Rodney Morris..
I was thinking the same thing. Plan the route then execute. It's not just 8+ players. You occasionally see even pros play a hair brain shot and wonder how they didn't see the scratch coming. But then, I've never scratched from the bleachers.

Instead of using some valuable time coining words for your errant cue ball control, try realizing that where your cue ball ends up
is an intregral part of every shot.
