Mark Wilson says i need different tips on my cues. i have been shooting with Tsunami tips, just dont know what to change to? i prefer a medium hit so i wouldnt want a hard tip. but i dont want them to be too soft either. my concern is what one thinks is hard, the other thinks is medium. and vice versa.

any ideas out there posters?

Did he say why you need a new tip?
Are you putting unwanted spin on the cue ball?
Is the tip simply worn out?

Go with a Snipper. They are a medium tip. I shoot with a Schon w/ a Predator shaft. The shaft came with a morri tip. I hated it. when a switched to the Sniper tip, my cue hit like a dream. Most of the players I know use a Sniper. They are not cheap tips. I paid $35 for it.

Tips have ratings re: hardness- take a look at the Mueller's website for ideas...

Are you sure you don't 'need a new tip' 'coz your old one is worn down?

If your paying for advice - Take it!

DCP - If Mark says you need a new tip, why question it? He doesen't sell tips so he has no other motive that helping you.
I personally like the Moori medium tip but haven't tried the Sniper.
When at Mark's, you aren't very far (15, 18 miles) from one of the best cue makers and nice guys in The Business. Jim Buss. @ busscues.com or do a Google search for the right site & phone#. Jim will usually work on your tip and shaft as you wait if you call ahead and tell him your on your way.

 Did Mark explain why you need a new tip  I can only assume your tip is too hard, if so try out a Triangle tip or a soft Moori. Tips are like cues, everyone has their opinion and what is right for one is wrong for another. I use a Triangle and like it.. you might not. I have heard that the Moori med/soft is a good tip. Hope this helps!

i dont think he liked the tip because it seemed too soft/bouncy, i guess, i dunno.

perhaps i will try a LePro tip, it is medium hard, rated about a 78. the Tsunami is rated about a 76.

keep the suggestions coming.

I agree 100%
But, I think it is important to understand why he needs a tip.
Did Mark suggest a tip?

I'd pass on the LePro because they are too inconsistent. You may, or may not, end up with a good one. I don't know what they did in the last 10 years or so (it's been a little longer now, I think), but they used to be "the tip" that everyone played with. They must have changed something in the manufacturing because they don't play the same anymore ... or rather, they may, or may not, play the same. At least, that is what I have experienced, and from what I have heard others say, so have a lot of other people. I haven't tried all of the tips out there, but I've been playing with a medium Moori for a couple years now and have been happy with it.

Tips

I agree with Jimmy on the LePro tips. I, unfortunately, really like LePro tips. However you might get a good LePro tip out of every 10 you try. I like the Medium Moori tips now. It took me a little while to get used to them (thought they were a little hard at first), but now I like them.

I've used Triangle and Everest and like them both. I just bought some Talisman WB mediums, but won't be installing them anytime soon unfortunately. I've heard bad things about Talisman on the net about it delaminating, but only first hand experience will tell for sure, so I bought some. :) I haven't used Moori, so I can't compare, but people like it. Do you want a layered tip or not? Layered - Everest, standard - Triangle. Everest is made by Tiger who also makes Sniper. No way you should pay $35 for either unless it is being installed by someone. Everest is about $10, Sniper is about $13 for just the tips.

Do find out why he says you need a new tip, I'm curious as well. I only change the tip when it wears down too much (due to scuffing) or continually deforms.

now i believe i remember, think he said there was too much "play" in the tip when you push up on it. does that make sense? something about it may not be a good tip, or not installed properly, dunno, cant remember.

either way, this Tsunami seems just a hair on the soft side. would like to try something Medium - but not medium hard.

Balabushka mediums

Tiger hard....

seriously, people spouting off the names of the tips they use is like asking people, "what kind of car should I get?".

Try a few out, see what you like.

Soft/Slow moori, best there is... :)

nod. I will never use another type of tip, I have found the holy grail and it is Moori Slow.
