Yes Teacherman.....you own a pool room..........a very nice establishment I might add.
Fellow azers, believe it or not...........teacherman is a really nice guy!!

Christyd

Well, Christy, I'm gonna give Teacherman the benefit of the doubt, but for a nice guy, he sure took an abrasive path.

To offer a post-mortem on this thread, a poster related the details of a disheartening experience in a gambling situation in which an establishment's closing time policy led to a conflict. Most of us who participated in the thread tried to assess the situation objectively, considering the situation from the standpoint of both our poster and also from the standpoint of the manager who seemed to have acted abruptly in the circumstances described.

A constructive debate was in progress until Teacherman chose, instead, to accuse the poster of having falsified the facts of the incident and then went on to attack his character. This set the thread off in a new and awfully argumentative direction that, it seems, might have been avoided.

Teacherman probably is a nice guy who runs a nice poolroom and who cares deeply about the game we love. Still, and I hope he'll forgive me for this, I think he could have posted in a more diplomatic and respectful manner. After all, mutual respect among the members of this forum is fundamental to a positive experience for all who participate.

Yes SJM, I have to agree with you. Teacherman could've displayed a bit more tact in his responses, but for whatever reason chose not to.
I've been acquainted with Teacherman for several years and to be honest with you, I agree with most of his responses though he definitely could've expressed himself in a nicer way! Guess he's not looking to make any friends. :D
I will say it again. He is a really nice guy and runs a great pool room!
Teacherman, are you having a bad week??........ :D

everyone take a timeout,,,go to the janice bludworth thread and be thankful for what we have and that we don't have to endure what blud is going through right now,,, please refrain from posting exterraneous comments,,,everything else seems petty in comparison,,,,peace................................................

Isn't it common courtesy for the workers or management of a poolhall to give customers a 15 or 30 minute warning before they close? Most places I've gone to do that, and the poolhall I worked at did the same thing. For a place to shut the lights off without giving any prior warning...that sucks.

Wow, I missed a flurry of posts.

I have a question. Just what would've all you done the last few days if I'd have posted the following........

"You're right westjer. You should've been allowed to shoot the 9 ball. That manager mistreated you. I think you should talk to the owner and file a complaint. No one should be spoken to like that. I can't believe they exist with that kind of customer service. After all pool players are the heart and soul of a pool room."

Your blood would still be moving slowly. You'd be lethargic.....about to go to sleep. You'd be looking for something to get you moving. Something to make you check the internet everyday.

Did you feel that burst of energy?????

Well.................you got it. It's me. Teacherman.

Sorry to make you think so hard. But, I think it's important that people analyze everything said. Always two sides. Easy to jump to conclusions.

But............now, you're sharp as a tack. Looking for ways to give me a jab.........

This sounds more like a pool room than it did a few days ago.

Ever see the movie "Anger Management"?..........

It just happened to you.

No way watchez. No maggots in my place. :D

Do you think the theatre should give you and your girlfriend an extra 15-20 minutes to "finish".

That's way to kind considering how our last encounter ended.

But, we all have THAT side of us.........don't we? It's just not me is it?

Hey Pete, and Cardiac Kid...

So you don't like tight pockets? Or is that you don't like playing a good game of pool? Pool is a great game, being a complainer won't help. I read that you said Diamond tables are the best? Well in that case Pete, you should buy one for you and the other whiner. :(

Mike Sigel once said the tables in the VIP room play so easy that a 100 Ball run isn't hard to do as long as you focus.

I've heard through the grape vine that the pockets will all redone, and all tables will have 760 simonis. If you want to play pool and make your game better... play on the Gandys, that's a mans table.

Ok Teacherman.......our last encounter wasn't that bad was it?? You ever been in a marriage where you agreed on everything? :D
What side are you referring to?

Debra

Where's your old avatar? Please let me see it again.

Short and to the point is how I like it.

The bad side. The one I showed to Bob. You were there weren't you?

He kicked my ass. I didn't like it.

Oh yes, I was there. Trust me buddy, I've seen much worse and I don't judge anyone based on one "minor fit"!
You're not as bad as the azer's think you are :D

That's how I'd like the posters to treat the manager and owner of the pool room in question.

The pressures of business, making ends meet, dealing with the police, dealing with difficult customers etc etc may cause certain individuals to "go off".

I do side with the room in this occurrence for those reasons.

My "owner bias" I guess.

Comparing what the owner could lose to what the player lost, and comparing the owners investment to the players investment, I call it a good decision.

Sorry man, but the manager of the pool room in question acted wrong. You posted that she was in on the bet, as were you. You are asking for respect. Respect is something that is EARNED, not given. You are asking for sympathy. That won't be given based on what you've posted. You own a business, good for you. Get yourself a cookie. The problem that some people share is, sadly, your replies. They have been nothing but evasive. You may call it a good decision, but some will see differently. Good luck with your business. May you be treated as you treat others.

Was it the suit comment jazz?

I could've called you peewee herman.

Doesn't bother me either way. I just think you're in the wrong business friend. If you wanna stiff your customers, get a new line of work. Those pool players ARE your best customers. They know not to sit on the tables. They respect the equipment. They ARE what the newcomers see. They are their examples..to an extent. Why would you treat them like that? Why do you talk behind their backs? Believe it or not, but you are just like the ones you claim you are not. It's just that you're doing it from behind the counter. Seriously dude, have a nice day.
