I Need Your Help

Recently I injured my back and was not able to get down on my shots.In addition I also bought a used custom cue that I was trying to adjust to.Now I notice when I shoot the C.B. straight down the long rail,I expect it to come back directly to the tip of my cue.It is going to the left of my cue consistently.I switched back to my older cue and same thing.My stroke feels smooth.Any suggestions?Should I video myself shooting?

If you believe you're having mechanical problems, I strongly suggest seeking out an instructor. You might be getting up on your shots or you might not be setting properly (depending on exactly when you feel the pain in your back). Either way, a good instructor can figure out your problem in seconds.

I'm guessing it has nothing to do with your cues and everything to do with your back. When you injured your back you threw your entire balance out of whack. I would suggest seeing a chiroprator or back specialist to make sure your spine is aligned properly. I'm guessing that you are unconsciously adapting your stance to compensate for your back injury. Good luck. I know it's frustrating, but back injuries are tricky. The worst thing your can do is try to rush the healing process.

I was recently doing this and it likely has to do with the change in the position of your head over the cuestick. When that changes, your view of the middle of the cue ball changes and you are likely hitting the CB off center.

I assume you are talking about the drill where you hit the CB down and try to get it to come back to your tip. Do this drill in the middle of the table. When you do the drill, make sure that the CB is on the spot and your cue is centered over the diamond on the rail, then from this position look at the CB and make sure you are hitting it directly in the center. Then keep working with this until you can get the CB to come back straight.

Once this problem crops up, you need to do this drill before every practice session and if you start missing, do it some more.

And you still should seek out an instructor to make sure the rest of your mechanics are okay after changing your head position like that.

bob - i'm getting unwanted left hand english on my cue ball.

Thanks guys, I probably should of mentioned that the back thing has been going on for years and there has even been surgury.Regas that is the drill I am doing.I have a instructor that I need to call so he can help me get back into sync.I just cant figure why its sliding off to my left,I have tried dead center cb right on the red dot.I am able to bend again so thats not it.I am rambling<I will call my instructor and get it together again.its just frustrating that when you are starting to see vast improvment in your game you back slide.No pun intended.
