Getting along is good and every thing but I think it's blown way out of proportion when it comes to Mosconi. It's pool, a single person game and actually 14/21 matches are singles. I promise you the European team might have looked more like a team because they have all their fans, are up 10-3, etc but I would bet they all aren't best buds after or before the Cup. It's hard to be happy and high giving when you are losing. Actually we all got a long really well just didn't play as good as the European team. We made too many simple errors when we should have won games and you can't do that have to capitolize. This isn't foot ball where you can help another player out on your team if he's struggling or bench a player if he's doing bad. So isn't the coaches fault either. Just my opinion. They just played a little more solid than us and deserved the win but I would gladly bet on our team every year getting 3:1 since we are so outclassed. We would be rich! Ask Darren Appleton, he even said in his interview he expected a close match that the skill gap is not that large between the two teams.

I haven't quite been able to put words to what bugs me about it, but I felt some disagreement each time I read that the MC team's issue was a lack of 'team' element.

I think it is largely bs.

Justin thanks for chiming in. But there is no way you can tell me that not having your teammates instantly by your side is not a big deal, it's huge especially if you're losing. This is not the league play type of support where your teammate is going "well why'd you play that?" and about them being buddies after well i don't know these guys live all over the place and almost never meet up for events like you guys would in the states.
I am not in you shoes and can not speak on the pressure of that event but can relate i guess cause we've all been in our own pressure situation. I personally feel that true team spirit would help with confidence and may yield a better result just looking at past teams vs recent and also that pretty much ever year everyone on team Europe has not problems playing with who's picked to be on their team so there's no initial tension going in.
We as outsider can sit here and speculate and crunch all the numbers we want but it's you guys in the box, none of this would be going on had you guys won with everything being the exact same way it was. All i can say is I sure hope you guys (meaning team USA) find whatever it is and at least look like you want it next year and the years to follow.

Oh and I can't believe that Black doesn't feel that "Team Comradery" is a big factor in "team sports", you see it in practically every group activity that people take part in and you often hear people say that it was the sound of their teammates or even total strangers (say in like a Spartan or Tuff Mudder) that helped get them through that last stage. But hey not because it's your view means that it's right so every one has and is entitled to their own opinion.
