ok, got the word today, our military installation is going to stay open. however, they have said around 672 jobs will be either lost, moved, or realigned. at this point nobody knows what that means, just have to wait and see. that is about 20% of the total base as around 3,500 people are employed here.

the gloom and doom talk has started, however. plus all the talk about early-out retirement incentives, seniority, various projects going to another base, etc, etc.

guess time will tell.

Does it mean you can only buy the shaft for that new cue now?

I survived this time also. They are only saying we will lose 11 people and they expect that many to retire in the amount of time it will take to do all this. We still need to cross our fingers for DCP cause 672 is a lot of people.

Way I understood it is that there is going to be more jobs created / moved in than the ones that are going to be moved out / lost so overall Crane's workforce will be going up.

I wouldnt think that I would know more about it than someone who works there but that is what I was told by a good source?

Indiana is gaining a bunch of jobs, but nobody here has said that our installation is gaining jobs overall? people are starting to get worried.

maybe they meant Indiana as a whole?
