Another question about my cue i got this week, everywhere I've read, Mezz cues (WD700 shaft) come with a moori med tip. I showed the cue to a friend and he says its a Lepro tip and not a moori, is this possible? everywhere I read it says Moori med's come on mezz cues (except special models like mika's where it comes with kamui).

thoughts?

every mezz i've been through has had a moori on it. How bout you take a good pic and post it up. Moori tips are layered where as a lepro is a single layer tip. Do you see any layers on your tip like a wafer?

Here is an example:

Nope, no layers on mine, must be a lepro then. Time to get a kamui black.

They ALL leave the factory with a Moori tip on them. Japanese quality control is second to none and Mezz prize themself on theirs.

Have a closer look with a magnifying glass to check for the layers. Sometimes a burnished tip looks like one piece of leather.

Possible other answers is that your friend's eyesight is failing, you bought a fake or you bought a good condition 2nd hand cue that has a new tip.

If it really is a LePro you are being duped.

I don't have all the specs in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the Mezz Sneaky Pete comes with a Le Pro tip. I believe all the others have Moori tips.

I will re-clarify instead of editing.

ALL the WD700 shafts leave the factory with a Moori tip on them.

Sorry if there was any confusion.

Mezz also have their own brand of tips which are available on break cues and jump cues.

The cue is brand new, bought from a dealer. Def not 2nd hand, its brand new, I'm gonna use a magnifying glass to check the tip closer. Thnx for the clarification.

Your cue should come with Moori tip. Only the WD700 of the sneaky and standard maple shaft do not come with layered tip. Check with the seller to see if the shaft is the original one that comes with your Z-802.

You are right on the sneaky pete. Mezz not only put Moori on their cues now, but also Kamui and Hirano.

wasn't that long ago they were 275 shipped

Yeah, 268 was the cheapest I saw. I tried to buy at that price around 18 months ago, but the retailer wouldn't sell it because of Mezz's MAP policies (or something).

Who buys Mezz cues? They'll go out of business if they don't have more realistic pricing.

That's just plain wrong.

Mezz makes plenty of WD700 shafts with Lepro tips.
All the cues that have a Standard Joint but WD700 shaft have a LePro tip,
this includes but is not limited too PUJ Series, SA Series, the old Sneaky Pete model.

They also make plenty of models that have the standard maple shaft but do
come with a Moori tip, like for example the JJ Series of cue.

If we are talking about the Z802 then that cue should have a Moori tip,
Mezz does not burnish the tips much if at all and the layers should be easy
to spot if the cue is still new(ish).

I wonder if the high pricing is because of the low value of the US dollar in Japan. Mezz cues are made in Japan and imported.
