I thought mezz cues come with a moori tip?

I wonder if the high pricing is because of the low value of the US dollar in Japan. Mezz cues are made in Japan and imported.

Actually, the pricing of Mezz cues in Japan has been unchanged in the last few years. The high pricing in all overseas markets just reflects the continuous appreciation of Japanese yen over the last few years.

That's just plain wrong.

Mezz makes plenty of WD700 shafts with Lepro tips.
All the cues that have a Standard Joint but WD700 shaft have a LePro tip,
this includes but is not limited too PUJ Series, SA Series, the old Sneaky Pete model.

They also make plenty of models that have the standard maple shaft but do
come with a Moori tip, like for example the JJ Series of cue.

If we are talking about the Z802 then that cue should have a Moori tip,
Mezz does not burnish the tips much if at all and the layers should be easy
to spot if the cue is still new(ish).

gr. Dave
it is the z802, i did burnish the tip right when i got it, but i cant remember if it had layers before i burnished it. heres a pic of the cue. i guess i will try looking at the tip with a magnifying glass. and ill try to get s clear shot of the tip to post up.

better than kamui or what?

Personally, I do not like it very much. As I said, it is more like a one piece tip. It has less grip than Kamui and is easy to mushroom especially the soft tip. Some players may like the its low tone sound. But I am using G2. I think it is the best in the market.

Yeah, 268 was the cheapest I saw. I tried to buy at that price around 18 months ago, but the retailer wouldn't sell it because of Mezz's MAP policies (or something).

Who buys Mezz cues? They'll go out of business if they don't have more realistic pricing.

I recently payed 350 Euro for my Mezz EC7 on a french webshop (Kozoom) wich is 30 Euro cheaper then my previous cue, a Predator 5K1 (380 Euro) that I purchased 4 years ago. I think that's reasonable.

then I'm completely stumped. this cue is supposed to come with a moori. grrrrr

If you can't see from the side, just look from the top but make sure it is clean first. Just sand the tip lightly from the center peak of the tip down to the side.
If it is layer you should see two or more circular patterns on it.

Your first picture shows few layers on it but the second does not. The fibres on the tip looks like a lepro so is the color.

i wouldn't be so sure about that....that is in no way a moori, definitely a le pro!
I agree, thats no morri. The first pic is deceiving but if it was a Morri it would be quite obvious.Looks like a Lepro to me with all those window cracking looking lines going through the tip.Shaft could be older stock or not original with your cue.

I think the lines in the first pic can be from the cutting tool they use when putting on the tip.Contact Mezz and find out if your model should have one.

Your cue definitely should come with Moori tip. If that is not the case, I highly suggest that you contact your Mezz dealer first and find out if the shaft is the original shaft that comes with your Z-802. Usually, if your WD700 is the original shaft, the WD700 logo on the shaft should line up with the Mezz Cue logo at the butt end when putting them together. Mezz also makes WD700 united joint with Le Pro tip but that only comes with their sneaky petes.

I have dealt with Mezz cues for many years and sold thousands of their cues but this thing never happened. I would be very surprised if this mistake happened in their factory.

alright, I will check that when I get home.

My friend just got a cue in and he had a moori tip put on it and the tip looks exactly the same as mine. so now I'm even more confused lol.

just checked and the logo on the shaft does not line up with the logo on the butt, so im assuming they gave me a shaft from a sneaky pete with my cue. gonna contact mezz and the dealer and get to the bottom of this. thanks for your help.

Check the tip diameter......

You could have an older edition shaft. Awhile back when Mezz shafts used to measure 12.8 mm in tip diameter, the tips they used to supply them with were LePro. Then they started changing them to Moori and after that they started making the shafts at 12.5 mm in tip diamter. so Yours could be one of the older originals. In my opinion I'd rather have the Le Pro than the Moori. Mooris aren't the same as they used to be ( IMHO ).

All new WD700 shafts should have a Moori III Medium Tip. Looking at your photos I do not believe that tip is the original Moori tip. It should be obvious that the tip is layered.

I would suggest contacting the person, place or dealer where you purchased the cue.
