I Want A New Cue

Sorry for hijacking here but Joss has been brought up...
Why Joss cues have such thin points a big space between them?

Arthur make beautiful cues and the play great, I have a plane jane of his that unfortunately both butt and shaft warped...

Yeah, they have import lines, but I bet their US Made cues are still very high quality. And, I bet they still use very nice looking BEM in their cues. Joss does not seem to use any BEM in their cues anymore. They now use some sort of very generic looking low grade Curly Maple, that just makes me think of those $100 DP cues every time I see them.
And McDermott is still building cues with an A joint while Joss uses a threaded full cure.

Lots of ways to compare and contrast.

I don't like the current Joss points, they went with that design years ago and I have no idea why. I haven's seen BEM in a new Joss in a long while. But I don't sit around and look at Joss cues. I'm not into them, same with McDermott. I am interested in the construction of the cues and study that matter. The aesthetics of design is another matter. I really do love the older cue designs and the modern customs that replicate that. As I said, I am just glad we are talking about US cue makers.

The custom that Janes was going to build me would have used a full splice double butterfly blank that I have, not Joss points. I was interested in the construction, it would have been made using his threaded core.

Stilletto points look much sleeker (whatever that means) to me. Joss's look blunt spliced though like cheap sneakys.
Interesting that I don't recall anybody saying they prefer the Joss point style.

Somebody must. But I feel that to like one of the designs I need to see past that glaring "flaw". Yes, to me it fouls up the proportions and is a design flaw.

I love my old Joss. But I honestly have more McDermott cues than Joss. Why? It just ended up that way because I am a bargain hunter. Harder to find a bargain price on an old Joss.

Joss can make you a custom cue as well. They are awesome at it. Tell them what you want.

The gaps at the bottom lower the cool factor but 5 or 6 skinny points or lengthening the splice would solve that. I like this one DCP posted. IMO the chromatic balance is as good as a fancy design can get.

Sorry for the dumb question but what are “Stilletto points”?
That's what I call skinny points. Not original with me either.

Joss do have a 5 points cue that looks better but too similar to my Jacoby.
I couldn’t find any Joss cue that I liked its design.
Ended up going with a Chinese cue…
Maybe in the future I’ll see a Joss that I like

I have a McDaniel cue with thin points but there are 8 of them so it looks nice.
But usually I like points that are connected at the base, giving the classic full splice look

Can anybody help me find a new cue? Preferable mostly ebony with ivory or bone inlays. Nothing too elaborate. And no wood to wood joints. And no used ones. I am not interested in buying your cue no matter how little you played with it.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Any cuemakers got some for sale? Or websites?

I haven't bought a new cue in 4-5 years now so I am way overdue. Also, one last thing - I prefer one that makes balls as compared to most of the ones I have now that seem to always miss balls.

Cheapcues.com Mike Littman might have some unplayed pechuaers you might like in the safe.

After searching far and wide some more I ran across this Pechauer cue. It is very close to what I am looking for. I might go ahead and order this one as well. Be nice to have a new Joss and a new Pechauer within a few weeks..:)

Plus I am heading to Owensboro in a few weeks. Might talk with Chad Carter about having an Ebony/Bone cue made.
