I want a Sneaky Pete but

Can not decide what maker to buy from, or who's Cue I want.

Requirements are simple:

Cocobolo & Tiger Stripped Maple

18.75 Ounces

Two Shafts

Maybe Fancy Ring Work above the Butt Cap, Joint, and on the Shaft

Considering Bob Frey, Keith Josey, Bryan Mordt, but open to suggestions, or comments from SP Owners.

Budget $450.00

If you like stiff hitting, forward balanced cues, my choice would be Josey.

Just curious, how come a SP? For that money you could get a super nice looking Joss and I would be surprised if these SP's can play any better. Just an observation but of the choices you listed it would be Josey.

well with the tiger maple you'll probably need to find someone who makes their own full splice sneaky butt I would think. Could be wrong of course, be nice if a cuemaker would jump in.

Would think if they have to make the full splice butt that it would certainly narrow the search. Haven't seen any tiger maple in a sneaky, but of course I haven't seen much so take that with a grain of salt.

my personal choice for sneakies is www.dzcues.com have one and it's been a really good cue.

joe callaluca (joe c) has a few in process that are going to be great. pm him and get some info. his cues are really starting to catch on, they play great.

coco cue

i would suggest a omen cue. very nice hitting cue. I larry nevel right now play with one. The new ones come with a hoppe style ring. Just 425 for a great custom cue.

What cue do you use to break with? If I could break like you with that cue I would pay 1,000 for it.....:D

Gilbert

not sure about the tiger striped maple but you can get a Gilbert for that money. Cant go wrong with a Gilbert in my opinion.

JW Petree..... wreck-o-nize

I'm with Roscoe. JW Petree makes a mean sneaky pete.

Now if you're really interested in highly figured woods, want to stay well within budget, and time isn't an option, I'd also add Eric Crip's name (Sugartree Cues) into the mix.

Diveney

I think you would be hard pressed to find better than Pat Diveney. He will build it like you want no problem. His attention to detail and quality workmanship is second to none, not to mention he is great to work with. He has some new pics on his website. Give em a look.

cue sp

you may want to call wayne ball tampa,fl
call robertsons billiards for contact
he made a sp for me few years ago
i love it.

Go with JW Petree. If you're looking for an awesome looking and playing cue at a VERY reasonable price, you can't beat JWP!!!

I'd also throw in my vote for Steve Klein even though it's not on your list. He makes a real monster hitting cue. My 2 cents.

Bob Frey makes a fantastic hitting sneaky pete, also Eric Crisp can probably make you a nice sneaky with the wood combination you are looking for and in your price range, he just finished a few sneaky petes and pictures can be found here i even wanted to sell my Frey for one but decided to wait till I can have both :)
