I would like to know how all the AZB fans and members pool game is going in 2011?

my game is very inconsistent. i injured my arm 18 months ago. didnt play for a year. startedback playing 6 months ago. my stroke was improving every week and my skill level has been raised twice. i was released from the doctors care last week, he stated that i have reached my maximum recovery level. thats a real bummer for me because i have no feeling in half my hand, cannot bend 2 fingers and lost half my strength in my hand and also my arm. i dont know if my stroke will improve anymore or not. i knew i would never regain full recovery but i was hoping to get back close to playing like i used to. im a 5 now in apa,was a 7 in bca before the injury.
on the bright side my breaking has improved a lot due to picking up an old pechauer breaking stick a few weeks ago. i am able to make 1 or 2 balls consistently every break which helps my overall game. we all know how important the mental part of the game is.we train our minds to block out noise and other distractions and to focus on the shot we are attempting. some days my hand feels ok and soe days it dont, thats where i get real inconsistent. been working hard on blocking it out and just focusing on the shot at hand. hopefully my hand feels good when i go to the singles regional this weekend.

if i lose do you think i could post on the best excuse why someone lost thread that my hand was hurting ? just kidding mr. lock. my goal for 2011 is just to continue playing the game i love to the best of my ability. winning the regional would be great also.

the best to you mr. lock

Thanks for the best to me. I appreciate that. Now about you and your pool game. Are you right or left handed? The reason I asked you that is because I play a lot of one handed pool, I call it giving weight to my opponent! Really it does not matter if you are right or left handed. Waddell, used to play with one hand to get a game. He wore a cast on one arm like he had a bad arm. He is the reason that I started playing with one hand to get a game.

Now let us address your game and your game plan! Start out like you have never played pool before. Meaning that you should pay very close attention to every detail going on with your game. Take your time with shots and everything you do in practicing and during your real games. If you stroked before 5 times before a shot now try 7 or 8 times, and shoot a little softer when you shoot so you do not have to shoot too hard. Slow your rock speed down just a little. Focus, Focus, Focus. Now take your time with each shot, and walk around the table before each shot, and look at all the details of the shot, and the position for your next shot. Add a little more time to each shot now than you used before!

Check your stance and position of your feet and arms before you shoot! Make sure it is very relaxed and in perspective to how you are aiming at your shot.
Start exercising your hands and arms often, maybe with a light barbell or a hand clamp that you squeeze so many times a day with your hands, as in both of them! This may be a slow process, but do not give up.

Hit balls more often than you use to. Alone in the back of the pool hall if you can. The less people say to you when you are hitting balls the better.

Number one rule is to stay focused! Number two do not give up! Number three practice and more practice until it hurts. Time heals most wounds.....

Now on your goal for 2011, more of the above. Keep me posted on your progress/ recovery? Thanks for your response. Good Luck.

Lock N Load.

My pool game ala Mike Tyson;

"Lock N Load, I'm coming for you man. My break is impetuous. My safeties is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. Praise be to the Cue Ball!"

Seriously...I find my game is very level, Ive been very lucky to hold a certain level of play over many yrs. Not saying its world class but a solid low end shortstop speed. In saying that could all facets of my game improve, probably with many hours of deep rooted practice but the truth is...I dont have the time or cant justify the hours needed to do so.

VooDoo Daddy, Have gone and done it now! Call the Lock out!!!

Hello Voodoo,
You have gone and opened up a 55 gallon drum of Whip A**S now, calling the Lock out, is bad for your pool game health!!! You can order your Tomb Stone, with here lies the remains of Voodoo Daddy's pool game!! Courtesy of Lock N Load.... Another proud good shooting pool player has been ran over by the Lock! Here I am trying to help your game improve for 2011, and you want to get hurt! I suppose you want the 7 to boot? After calling me out you can't get any weight! Casting a spell ain't gonna help you either!!! Would you like for me to come to Hollywood for you to attempt to dismantle the Lock? Make time to practice plenty of racking!!! So much for that!

Now, about your pool game and your plans to improve it for 2011! Oh, you do not have time to or justify practice, well it sounds to me like your game is all together.... And if you think your game is on the up and up for a long time now, you are doing well! I had to woof back at you in my above statement. I could not let that slide!! I appreciate your response very much. Keep up the good work! You will be OK as long as you steer clear of New Orleans, Louisiana... He, He, he...
Regards,
Lock N Load.

Lockup, it was a real pleasure playing you! Welcome to the AZB.

Hey Lock it was a real pleasure playing a champion like you last night. It's not too often I get to play a player your speed around here. Next time you need to get your right glasses though cause I want your A game. If I can't get that A game its just not worth playing you anymore Lock.

Regards,

Lockup from the Westbank.

Hello My Friend,
I made you play your best game , huh? Thanks for the sets. Welcome to the Lock Society. Welcome to AZB. You are an asset to both. Any help you need on AZB just ask! Good to have a friend like you....

Hello Lockup,
My, B game was OK, don't you think so? Oh, you'll play some more! When will you see, Mr. Nip? Tell him hello for me!

Regards,
Lock N Load.

Lockup, I'll help you get in stroke, don't worry!

Your A game might be tough but I think I can get you when I work that rust off my stroke. I been on a long layoff lock I need a few sessions to get back in stroke. When I do though you better bring the A game and sharpen up them combos and 3 rail banks!! LOL.

I told Mr. Nip you been asking about him and he was very glad to hear from you today. You should call him more often to keep him abreast of the happenings in the Lock Society. You really should take Locksmith from Pender and give it to Nip. Just a friendly suggestion.

Regards
Lockup from the Westbank!

You, mean you didn't like my combo's, three rail banks and kicks? Opps, I know why you did not like them! I did not like some your shots either... You are worried about the wrong game from me! My Super A+ game is the one that puts me on top....

All jokes aside though, you were a little off when we first started, but as we played your game and stroke got much better. You will represent the Lock Society pretty well. I will see to that! Your game is all there except for a minor area or two. No, big problem for the Lock though. I am going to give you a promotion right after Fat Tuesday! Your promo will be to a Warrant officer. That will be your rank in the Lock Society... Congrats are in order for you!!

Are you getting any welcomes from the AZB family?
I will think about Mr. Smith's wanting the other name! Thanks again. He is a very nice guy, and my friend. Thanks.
Regards,
Lock N Lock.

Lockup, are going to Buffalo's tonight?

I do not know if I am going yet, with the parade traffic and all. Let me know if you are going? We are going to get your game up on the top shelf! No doubt about it... Tell, Game Lock I said hello!
Regards,
Lock N Load.

Please do not worry about my A game!

I might go on a little road trip to Thibodeaux and see if I can get a little action to get me back in stroke. I can't get no fair action at Buffalo's. I don't play for 6 months and can't get played by people who play everyday. If I don't do that though I might be lookin for your A game.

Regard's
Lockup from the Westbank

BTW Lock don't forget to keep Mr. Nip abreast on whats happening with the Lock Society!!

Right now, we are concerned about getting you back in stroke. That is the issue at hand. The guys that you and I tried to get action for you have been beat up on by you at some point, when you were in stroke. I am going to teach you how to give up weight and still win! Do you want my help with improving your game? Let me know! I do not mind helping you.
I will keep Mr. Nip informed for sure...... Thanks.

My 2011 pool game outlook!

Hello everyone,
I was sitting here wondering how many pool players on AZB, games were going? Has your kicks improved! Is your banks getting where you want them to be? How is your cue ball control going in 2011? Position on the next ball? Cut shots? How are your breaks going? I hope everyone is happy with their pool game improvements for 2011! If you are having a problem with some shots, I would love to hear about that as well!

My goal for my pool game in 2011 is to get my kicking and banking where I want it to be! I will also hit balls a lot more this years, It keeps my stroke up.
This post is to find out how you are improving your game for 2011. Thanks for your input.

Regards,
Lock N Load.

Lot of good information in this thread, and what it most all boils down to for me is getting back to the basics.

I quit pool for 7 years, my back was killing me playing pool all the time, after the lay off my back still gets outta wack at times if I play too long, but now I know what my limits are with stamina, about 6hrs for me now.

February 2010 was 7 years out of the game, I played about 3 months out of 6 months last year, took a 3 month break, and now have about 3 months back this year.

I started all over, my stance, stroke, follow thru my shots, staying down on the shots, paying real close attention to all my shots and thinking ahead, working on the break, playing more and better saftey's, my banking, and just trying to smiplify the game.

I try to practice by myself 2 hours aweek, and maybe 1 or 2 tournaments aweek, but it's real hard for me to get any quality practice because everyone wants to hit balls with me, so sometimes I practice shots while playing with guy's and they say what are you doing that for , I say man were just hitting balls and I'm trying out some shots.

Overall I've noticed that my game is improving and by not playing all the time, this gives me the feeling of "I want to go play pool" instead of making myself go play and being bored with it and my back hurting, so far this method has worked out and I'm a new player.

From experience I do think you can play too much pool and get bored with it, and then the learning curve drops, and your overall ability drops down, atleast that's how it is for me.

I have discarded many old habits that was holding my pool game back and now love to play pool again, with this new outlook I can only improve.

Banks, I am still proud of you for all the effort you put into Your game. You held him off for while. That is great! Do not let this bother you or your thoughts on your game... Remember this is your game and yours only! You have to make the improvements on it. I am happy you did good and that you let me know how you did.... Please stay Focused when you are playing your game!! Very important to be focused at all times during your game playing. Walk around the table more often on every shot to see what is available for your next 3 shots! Check the cue ball out in position to the next ball you have to shot!

Whatever you do please do not play your girlfriend for money! He, he, he. When you get your game like you want it to be, and I want it to be, then you can call Lock N Load out! Willie, are you still there?

I wanted to go back and see how what I said matched up with how my game has been going. I've been putting racks together more often, but haven't been able to break the 3 high run, maybe I shouldn't complain since I'm getting them more regularly instead. I've tempered my alcohol consumption and am more able to focus and follow through for longer periods of time. And I've been trying to learn 1pocket. Oh, got a kamui black hard put on the stick, too.

I've been taking more time to address each shot, including making myself reset myself if I'm not happy with the feel/shot. The angle is checked, I try to approach visually from the side I will be targeting and step into the shot. Lastly, I concentrate on getting locked in and follow through with a hit that I've set my mind on.

How has your game been? Is there anything else you've got hidden up your sleave this year?

Anybody else have any updates? Anything you've found working for/against you?

Hope you're doing alright out there.

Great to hear from you again. I am glad your game is going well for you. I do not have any tricks up my sleeve. I may be able to put a good game down every now and then. Thanks again. Try to hit the balls a little more every day! That should help your game more too! Or you can come to New Orleans, Louisiana, and down to Buffalo's Billiards the Worlds pool hall and play a few sets with me..... He, he, he.

Lock N Load.

Hello K, that does not sound to good!!

I'm lost. Don't even know where the object ball is sometimes.

Try playing a little more often and hitting the balls more and you might just find the object ball! Get a friend to play with you sometime. Make sure the friend cannot play well! Do whatever you can to help your game improve!!
