I would like to know how all the AZB fans and members pool game is going in 2011?

But honestly have ZERO DESIRE to go out and play in any Tournaments any more, as honestly the reward of winning is not worth the effort, money expended in the process to justify me driving cross town, paying entree fee, and coming home after midnight with 70-80 bucks for a first, 30-40 bucks for a second, or pocket change for a third.

Maybe that day will come again, but honestly I do not see that in the near future. JMHO.

I'm with you there Coco. I have been out of the game for about 4 years now and really don't miss the grind. I have found my desire is diminished and my priorities have shifted greatly. I don't see me picking up a stick for anything meaningful in the near future. If I do, it would probably just to go donate at the DCC. I get easily bored with the game anymore. :(

Gatorcc, That is a great goal for you in 2011! I like it.

I am guessing my game has gotten worse in 2011 but that is mainly do to the fact I haven't played a single game since before Christmas! It seems that every time I think I have the free time to play or practice something has come up! :(
I am hoping things will calm down a little and I can get some table time in this weekend!

My goal for 2011 is to play more, run more balls and learn 14.1.

I hope everyone here on AZB is improving!

Gatorcc,
Keep up the goal for 2011 for your pool game. Running balls is good, playing more is super! Learning to play 14.1 is OK too. thanks for wishing my game along with other AZB people game gets better for 2011. I wish the best for you and your family and your game for 2011. I appreciate your response.

Coco, being honest about your pool game is a plus in the right direction. Great reply

I have tried to watch some of the DVD I have had for year to re-spark the information in my brain. I have tried to practice a few more hours a week, and play better. I am seeing results of my efforts.

Coco, I am very glad you are seeing results in your game. It is very good to talk about anything that you want to improve on.... No matter what it is. I really do not like to play in small tournaments any more, It seems to be a hassle! You always have to give weight to some of the players. And you are right about the money and your time. Thank you very much for your response, I really appreciate it! Keep up the great work, Coco!

Houmatroy, that is a good way to help your back...

Mostly just been busy but partly cuz of the old back...before hunting season i was going to this woman that does deep tissue sport massages with the oils & hot rocks..That was starting to help...she said it was cuz my hips were out of line & had to be worked back in.

You are on the right road to recovery now, Houmatroy. when you need help you have to go for it! Thanks.

Jason, it is hard to get pool out of your blood! Trust me, I know.

Jason,
It depends on who you are going to play as well. To make you want to beat on that person on the pool table. Playing pool clears your brain of all other thoughts and things. At least it does for me. I hope you get that pool spark back! Jason, pool is a lot better than a lot other things you could do! Thanks Jason.

Tramp Steamer, Great to hear your game is better than ever!

To tell you the truth I'm playing as well as I ever have, maybe better. The reason, of course, is the new aiming system I developed while I was away these past four months. It's a method I call the 'Drip Line', and using it has increased my shot making percentage phenomonaly. I'm late for an appointment right now, but remind me later and I'll tell you all about it.

Yes indeed,
Steamer, you sound like a man that is happy with his game. It is wonderful to hear this great news about your pool game! I appreciate hearing about it too. Being positive about your game is a big help also. Keep up the good work!

Now you have gotten me excited about the new aim system you use. When you get back please let me know about it? Thanking you in advance.

Justadub, I am very proud of you and your goals! You are moving on up!

I had some struggles closing out 2010, and was hoping/striving to make things better this year. Mixed results just a few weeks in. I'm thinking I have the major fundamental issues corrected (or at least the problems minimized, perhaps a better way to put it. An instructor would cringe at my "fundamentals", I'm sure) and I've had some limited successes.

My current biggest challenge in between my ears. Managing my game, and my emotions. Not letting "me" beat myself.

My goal is to move up a skill level in my league. (I know, actually wanting to go up? Heresey! :p) I'm hoping to do so by the end of 2011. As I just went up midway through last year, that is a stretch, so my drop-dead target is summer 2012, but if I can get my collective stuff together, maybe I can get there this year.

The goal of "going up" isn't the goal in and of itself, just a measure that I've improved a certain amount. It's the easiest measuring stick I have for pool in this part of the world. We shall see if I can get there this year...

Great, goal you have set for yourself. I like the way you are operating with your pool game. Moving up a level is a wonderful thing to do. At the rate you are going up I think you can lower your time limit for making your goal. With the moves you are making toward the positive way!

Something that might help you a lot is to go to your pool hall, get youself a remote table and put about 6 to 9 balls on the table and hit some balls. Shoot them in the proper order. If you miss a shot set it back up and shoot it until you can make it every time. then move on. Do not worry about breaking the balls when you are just hitting the balls. Hit balls for about an hour and then you can break and shoot the balls. Do this everyday and you will see a major improvement in your shots, position and stroke! Let me know how you make out? I appreciate your response.

Peppersauce, sometimes there are very important things a person have to do, priority!

My games been in the drink for a while now. I don't play much any more due to school and trying to get my career on track. Once all that gets ironed out I'll be hitting balls again on a regular basis. Hopefully I won't have forgotten how to play by then. :p

Some of the time, their are more important things in a person's life that have to be done. Priority things in life are more important than other things! You are doing very well. And when you finish with your life things you can go back to playing pool. that is still a great goal you have set for yourself. First things first! I appreciate your response. And I know your pool game will get back on track! In 2011.

I've delved into the world of 14.1. Considering I've just started, at this point, I've just been working on opening breaks. I've watched a number of videos where people have done creative breaks. It tripped me out to watch people break from behind the rack.

You're into 14.1 Baby Pacman, not bad at all.

That sounds like your game is getting into newer things baby Pacman. You
are off to the start you want to be at! I have not did any 14.1 yet. I heard a lot about it though. Baby, as long as you are making progress with your game is what matters to me. And that you are doing what makes you happy. Not to mention getting better at it. I am sincere with this thread all the way. If I can give you tips to make your game better, then I will do just that. I appreciate hearing from you about your game. Thanks.

it has been a struggle so far, good one week bad the next. shoot well in the basement but struggle in league. havent been playing as much as the last couple of years and it shows. our team is in first place, a division, but with very little help from me. hoping to break out of it soon, not giving up yet. trying to shoot out of it.(this funk)

Well I still practice, and play 5 or 6 days a week. I play with a gentleman who is 15 or so years my senior. He is a strong "B" Player. We play One Pocket for no other prize but winner get the break the NEXT GAME. Tis said in One Pocket if you break you have a 1.5 Ball advantage.

Think I play for the love of the game that started before many on this Forum took their first breath after leaving moms womb. That was for me about 1953-54 ish at a Boys Club in Miami.

I honestly do not understand those obsessed with gambling, as me if I want to gamble I will go to an Indian Casino, or Las Vegas where I will not be accused of being a "hustler", "shark" or "thief" should I be lucky and win. Plus casino has a long history of paying up when they loose.

Progress is slow but perceptable.

I have brought my self up a ball in 9 ball. I have about a ball and a half to go to get back where I was before I quit playing 14 years ago. I am currently going nuts waiting on my first custom cue. My 14-1 game seams to be going no where. It is still good overall since I finally get to loose myself in the green.

i Recently took some pool lessons from Denny Stewart in Findlay ohio an it has improved my game by 1 ball or 2

I've gotten better slowly and always stayed positive. I can only play one or two days a week so any increase is a positive.

Last year I topped out at a 3 pack and so far this year I have run a 4 pack and a few 2s. I have also already broken my record in 14.1 by 10.

I have an incredible amount of envy for you to be able to play 5-6 days a week. I can hit the hall at best 2 days a week. With the hours I work I would need to find a 24 hour pool hall to be able to do that.

Poolshooter74, Hit balls everyday at your favorite pool hall.

Hello Poolshooter74,
I am sorry to hear that your game is not the same all of the time. It is like that with most pool players, from time to time! Try going to your favorite pool hall and getting a table in the back somewhere and hit balls everyday at least a couple of hours a day. The environment must be different at the pool hall than it is in your basement! Try to make all of the shots you have trouble with multiple times, if you can. This helps me a lot with my stroke and aim. It may help you as well? Congrats on your team being in first place! You are a part of the team, even if you are sick at home and never pick up a pool cue. Please remember that.

Try shooting a few games a day with someone that is a little better with their pool game! This may help you! Try to keep your self confidence up all the time. Never think that you cannot make a shot or do something on the pool table that you want to do. Please do not worry about what anyone says about your pool game that is negative...
Please let Lock N Load know how you make out! I appreciate hearing from you. Talking about your game like you did with me will help you too.

Regards,
Lock N Load.

Pool halls in New Orleans, LA. And Metairie, LA are open 24-7.

I have an incredible amount of envy for you to be able to play 5-6 days a week. I can hit the hall at best 2 days a week. With the hours I work I would need to find a 24 hour pool hall to be able to do that.

Make sure you spread the days out from each other. If you only have two days to go to the pool hall. ETC.. Monday and then Friday if you can do that.
I just left Buffalo's Billiards, in Metairie, LA. Very large crowd. Good luck. Open 24-7.
