I'd like to suggest that you try this rack....

Yeah, the 2 side contacts at the front is all that you need. If you are hitting the straight ahead front contact it can cause problems. A bit of sanding can take care of that with just about any rack though.

Never quit learning things around here... I never thought much about the contact points on the traditional racks....

Also, as far as the racking area for straight pool is concerned, the only significance really is in the rear where the extra finger space is. The areas to the sides of the rack are affected mainly by the thickness of the racks walls. Neither the Delta nor this rack appear to have super fat sides that would put more break balls in the racking area (except those to the rear of the rack as mentioned).

I'd certainly say it's worth a try, except in my case I already have a Delta and doubt it's any big improvement on that.

Delta is the Cat's Meow... We make the Accu-Rack templates but I always love new balls, new cloth and a delta 13... RIGHT UP TO THE POINT SOME NIT BEATS THE BALLS INTO THE CLOTH!!!!!

LOL, got that straight, Renfro. No nits allowed in my home though and the balls and cloth are kept in excellent condition. ;)

Damn, I was the original poster of that thread you referenced. After seeing all of the comments I almost bought this rack because it looked pretty damn close to the Diamond rack but the price point made me think it probably was a piece of crap. I ended up paying $50 for the Diamond rack to ensure I was getting a good product. Wish I heard this review sooner...

My biggest problem with wooden racks is that in 9-ball,mI've noticed on the wooden racks around here, that there is always a gap between the balls in the second row. Does this rack keep the second row balls touching each other.

If you read or reread my original statement, the two problems I was trying to eliminate from my rounded corner cheapo original rack were...

"My two greatest concerns about my former rack was its total inability to set the second row, and it was also so small and tight to the cluster, that one needed nerves of steel to remove the rack without disturbing the stack."

I had the exact same feelings as you, but I guess I figured for twelve bucks to my door, that'd I'd at least give it a shot. Perhaps you, in the long run, will have gotten the better bargain.

I'm merely throwing this suggestion out there because I have been very pleased so far. I also wondered how in the world can this guy make a profit? He actually sent mine with two day Priority Mail. I don't ship stuff too often, but that had to cost nearly half as much as the $11.99.

Time will tell.

My main concern is that I truly hope those of you who have ordered one, find it meets your needs. I hate like heck to recommend things since cheap usually equates to crapola. I sincerely hope you all find this to be the exception to the rule...

Ah, thanks. A few days between reading the OP and posting. Guess I should have re-read it.

Just ordered, guess we'll see....

Got the rack today. Did not the same experience as the OP. I could not get the balls to rack tight regardless of orientation. The finish was rough; some light sanding was required to preclude chaffing of the bed-cloth. Glad it was but $12; it is already in the trash.
