First of all, the brand or condition of the cue doesn't matter to me. If I had a cue in this category, I would mount it on my wall. Nobody would ever play with it.

That said, I'd like to have the cue that Nick Varner used to beat Mike Sigel in the final of the 1980 PPPA World Straight Pool Championship.

I was able to hold and hit a few balls with that TAD during my last visit with Nick.

Good morning AZB friends.

I just wanted to share a few things from my visit with Mr. Nick Varner this past Saturday.

Nick shared the original TAD he used to win his first world championship with (photos included). It played AMAZING. (Edited to clarify, I did not buy Nick’s TAD - he was just sharing some cool cues with me that day)

I was fortunate to be able to buy a few special cases from Nick. First, the custom It's George case he used during his legendary 1989 season, where he won 11 out of 22 pro events. Unexpectedly, but to my happy surprise, I was also able to buy his special...

Alex Pagulayan's Schon R12
He had it with a Predator 314 shaft back in 2003 when he lost the final of the World Pool Championship to Thorsten Hohmann and I believed he also used it to win the Championship in 2004. I don't know when he stopped playing with it, I think he switched to Mezz afterwards.
The R12 is one of my favorite cue designs and best looking Schon ever made.

Tads shot way up as soon as people noticed them. The plain birdseye with beige ish wrap was $125. He even had some stained - as in green and such for even less. Insider deals prolly. Never bought one.
 
Whatever tournament Ray Martin won w this Bushka! My personal favorite ever. Second favorite was a Szam w offset rectangle maple boxes in an ebony sleeve. Never could understand why that cue didn’t sell, if I recall correctly it had yellow and red points and was around 7k, now no idea on value, but if I had the money I’d look for both of these cues. Absolutely beautiful examples of the two Legends.
