I have been thinking, How about a test drive? how about a Tiger X shaft?

if intrest is high enough, im going to permenately demo one shaft, but I need help, since I can only afford one shaft for this, what would you say the most popular joint is? that way, if the shaft wont fit your cue, it may fit someones you know, so more people get an oportunity...

naturaly overtime, I will have to maitenence the shaft, so I will need to charge a small fee, 5$ to much? and is a week long enough?

I will definitely pay $5 for a week long demo. I use a 3/8 10 Frey, but I could use a 5/16 18 also.

Who's going to pay to ship this thing around the country? are you going to require a deposit?

If you can work the logistics, I think this is a great idea.
 
5/16 14 is probably the most popular around here. Might need to be two weeks, most laminated shafts take a little while to get the feel of.
 
yes, but im going to let az members decide how to handle this, it is for you so you tell me, how do you think I should handle shipping,and the deposit, normaly, i charge 12.00 to ship a cue, or shaft..but its your call!

That makes it $17 or even $29 to try the shaft. At that price, I'd have to be pretty sure I was going to buy before I agreed. Maybe that's the way it should be. You might not want someone like me taking a freeroll with your demo shaft. I think you MUST have some kind of deposit, or credit card number to keep from getting ripped off (look at the actionhound thread). Good luck!
 
How about this, if enough people donate to this, We will just make the shaft, or Shafts! Az community property, as soon as 1 shaft has been paid for Ill ship it out to the first, donatee, and we can keep track of those people here...I will do this for anything, reguardless of price, on anything I sell..cues, balls, shafts, Whatever!

As a player, i always wanted something like this,now im a dealer, id like to help you in ways, i always wanted...

I think this would be great, but its up to AZ....

So we would ship it to each other, with you keeping track of who's next? that might work. How do you keep from getting it stolen?
 
no, maybe we could get a sticky, literaly, after i send the shaft, i have no control, you can keep track here, and yes, ship it to each other


if the shaft is stolen, the person currently using it would be responcible, and would have to replace the shaft

I don't know about donating to cover someone else's sticky fingers... How are 30 people across the country (or globe) going to collect when the thing dissapears?

I appreciate this idea, but I don't yet see how it will work out. Maybe some others have some input?
 
Ill even let az determine, who to send the shaft to...

once a shaft is paid for, it belongs to AZ, maybe we can make Az house pro, the athorty, becase the shaft would belong tothe members here, and only here

traveling shaft

i've done the same with the double refund cue, this is what i did. i just ask any members who wanted to try the cue to send me their address. i sent the cue to the first person who ask and after he played with the cue, i sent him the next name on the list. who ever wants to try the cue is responsible for shipping and insurance to next person on list. it has been shipped to dozens of people and each has shown to to dozens more. i think its a great idea for players to get a chance to play with the tiger shaft. the honor system with the azb'ers has worked out great for me. should do the same for you. good luck, chuck starkey
 
Talk to martin "jazznpool" here on AZ. He has a demo Ariel Carmeli cue that he successfully ships around the world for people to try out. I'm sure he has some suggestions on the process.

As for the original question, I have a few cues all 3/8-10 and I'd love to try out a new shaft. I'd be willing to pay $5 or $10 but probably not much more unless I was sure I'd be buying one.

I think 3/8x10 is probably the most used. I know I have 3, and have seen plenty of them on these boards.
 
What is interesting (to me) about this is the 1 or 2 weeks to evaluate...

I would think in reality it would only take 15-30 minutes to evaluate a shaft...

I think after that you start "evaluating" your stroke to work with that shaft.....meaning you start changing things in your stroke/timing....even if only very subtle changes...
