Idea's for a custom break cue

I am looking to get a nice custom break cue and just wanted some opinions. I use a BK2 now and really like it but like a lot of other people I have got the custom cue bug. I would like to hear your opinions and possibly see some pic's of different cuemakers work and the price range. Thanks in advance for your help.
 
I've heard nothing but good things about Kevin Varney's J/B cues. In fact, I have one ordered myself. Here's a link to a few threads about them:

I've not yet shot with one, but I do know that Mr. Varney is very helpful and offers quite a few options in regards to the specifics of the cue.
 
I have heard good reviews on Varney cues.

I wanted a fancier j/b though (6pt, leather, 2 shafts, etc..) and have Chad "CAMCUES" Mclennan. making me one now.

One word of warning. If you venture outside of the world of Predator, Extreme, Stealth, Sledgehammer, etc. make certain the cue maker knows what a break cue is supposed to be and try some out. It's not just a playing cue with a hard tip. True break cues are a specialty item.

It's hard to beat the new Extreme and the Predator. If a custom is just equal to these, you're in good shape.

I like my breaker to have a light forearm but heavy handle.
Ice cream cone taper on the forearm and 12 thousandths per innc on the handle ( soft taper ).
 
break cue

when i get one made:as thick a shaft as i can comfortable bridge around,around 18.5 ounces(i feel this weight is best with my snap) solid butt just meaning i'd rather buy a jumpo cue.and either a super hard leather or phenolic tip with a nickel radius.

THAT would work.
 
if youre looking for a custom cue, then dont limit yourself to one maker. look around, you'll find a few here.
there's also JWPetree on here who makes one hell of a nice break cue.

Check with Varney on here. He makes one hell of a break/jump cue.
 
i am actually anxiously awaiting a jumpbreak from Coker. Ordered earlier in the year through Mike at MAtador Cues. IT is to my Specs. Ebony front and back, linen wrap, as close to 19 as possible, phenolic tip/ferrule, 3/8-10 pin and 3/8-10 quick pin at jump joint. WIth a purpleheart breakshaft at 13.25 mm with a conical taper. I also have an oldwood maple shaft to match in case i want to play with it too. IT'll cost me in the 700 range. I use a Paul Dayton right now and it is the king. I have a long line of 6 people that have offered cash on the spot for it after breaking a few racks with it, and a few of them own Predators... I hope my new Coker bangs them as good....
 
Deffinatly a Pete Omen Jump break....

it is the hardest strongest break cue i ever used....
