Ideas for "Home League"

If this has been discussed, I appologize but for some reason I can't master the search function in this forum. (A search for home league returned 200+ results)

It is becoming pretty normal for 4 to 6 people to show up at my place one night a week for "billiards and beverages". The normal routine is to either play "winner has the table" or split into scotch doubles teams.

Has anybody ever devised a "home league" type situation to make this type of thing both fun for all skill levels and something to look forward to each week?

This is not meant to be a gambling event as that takes away from the original intent which was for friends to get together one night a week once or twice a month and have some fun. Billiards is optional.

heck.. maybe I just answered my own question.

This has been discussed before, but I don't remember what terminology was used in the thread title. I believe I even started a thread on this subject myself a couple or three years ago. Don't remember much about it though (too many naps since then :embarrassed2:).

I always thought a group of disgruntled league players could find out who has home tables and start a 3-person team, double-jeopardy type league. All the fees, dues, pot money, etc. could be distributed to all the players at years end instead of a bunch of goons trying to raise your skill levels so your team has to bust up. Maybe throw some extra cash at the league coordinator/secretary to make the business of doing paperwork worth his/her while.
