Identifying some seemingly antique pool balls

Recently came across some balls that have that antique look to them, and can't seem to find anything like them, and am wondering if anyone may know what I've got. For all I know, they could just be a wal-mart set (but they have a higher quality feel to them..) the main thing that sets them apart is the way the numbers appear on the solid balls. There is no white circle whatsoever, just the number, and you can feel that the numbers are inlaid.

I can probably post pictures eventually, but if anyone has an idea based on the description, let me know. Thanks!

Pictures would help. Scrimshaw numbers are probably old (pre-plastic) but who knows?
Ivory is easy to spot. It usually delaminates in concentric circles around the tusk axis.
Old clay starts to show surface cracks (like a muddy river bed that has dried out). The cracks are small and jagged.
Ivory composites - I don't know.

Im guessing they are an old bakelite set. If so 1950s era. Not worth a whole bunch, but a cool set to have.
Are these the balls youre talking about?
Chuck

Looking at that set, it looks like the one, three, four, five and seven have been replaced with plain balls without numbers..

Shame

If you look close you can see the numbers on all those balls. On the 1 and 7 the whole number is showing. On the 3, 4 and 5 the number is on the very edge of the ball.

I have a set of these too, I think they are from the 50's or 60's.
I have them for display cause I like my aramath tour pro set BEST of all!

Thanks, Chuck Fields! That's the exact set that I have. Any ideas on value, or am I better off just playing them?
