Well Jerry, if I’m unable to give my opinions and perspective of the BCA/P&B & BD, then is it ok to say these words , Spanish, Polish, Jewish, African, Serbian etc. or NOT???? My father always told me how and what to say and when to say it,you removing my recent post feels similar….I’d be even more surprised if this THREAD is left alone.

A guy goes away to play pool for the weekend, and misses whats going on....

????

Bill,

Someone actually removed your post? I'm sure you would not break any forum rules, so why would they remove your post? Was any explanation given for the removal? Doesn't this forum exist so that people can give their opinions on things?

You're one of the few people on these boards that has had vast experience in our sport, so I value your opinions. Would it be possible to repost, or could you at least send your comments to me in a PM?

Nah, I'll leave it alone. It's most likely my disgust of the ''state of affairs'' of our industry (mfg.) and my negativity surfacing again because of their unwillingness to get involved and EVOLVE. Plus, I know too much about how the wheels turn from ''all sides''.

I might be wrong but for a long time the traditional tournaments havent exactly changed pool as far as bringing it to the next level. And on top of that only the winner might come out of it with a profit, the rest of the field will end up spending more on expenses. So maybe BB might burn a few bridges and alienate some people but at least its a new direction. Why is the pool community afraid of changes? Give the top pros a paycheck finally. As far as pool is concerned, the local tours like the joss, predator, tri state and the rest around the country is where the heart of pool really lies, its all of us idiots spending money and time in an unforgiving game that we love. THATS the beauty of this great game, we can play until our bodies give out, compete and have fun and build a camaraderie with each other while getting to shoot and get lessons from the best in our sport.
So whats my final say about BB, I think we should support it and give the pros a reason to stay in shape and compete. Its a weird new game, but thats okay. 8 9 10 ball will always be around, one pocket will forever remain a money game, straight pool still has the world 14.1 championship. SBX and DCC will forever remain a fixture in the pool world, so money for the pros is the real argument to me, and BB can do that. Just my humble opinion, alot of you have years and years on me so you might have stronger reasons for your beliefs, im just saying that change can be good.

I think its the demographics of this forum that make matters seem worse than they really are. Many that come to this forum are great, others are no different than those in the pool room you'd NEVER associate with, but they are here and expressing themselves in their ''own way''. Good post, I'm with ya. Pool players don't seem to like change, but they will be the first ones to complain when it in ANY way effects ''THEIR'' game but NEVER if it affects anothers.

No acting lessons needed!

It's funny you said that -the bolded part above.

I told either Max Eberle or Manny Chau 2-3 weeks ago at the Bally's Casino the same thing. I love everything about the BB thing, except the game itself. I said I hope they were playing 8-Ball instead. :) And I hope that things work out for BB, but -if things don't work out with BB- somebody should copy that recipe and add their own sauce to it.

Your right even if it doesn't work out someone could always redevelop it with their own twist. Take a page out of the reality shows like survivor or even the WWE. People ultimately want to be entertained in this day and age and not for nothing pool is like one of those sports where if your not hardcore you really can't appreciate it IMO. However throw in some scripted drama, have a running plot with twists and turns, curveballs, and most importantly get the viewing audience to root for a player whether perceived as a face or a heel will bring people to watch. There needs to be character development most importantly. I mean cmon if they can make stars out of a bunch of kids from Jersey, housewives from Beverly hills, and make me watch reruns of chopped over and over surely someone can develop a story about pool players, one of the most entertaining groups of people in the world. NO ACTING LESSONS NEEDED.
