Billiards is a very lucrative business especially for the big names.

they don't invest hugely in pro pool simply because they don't have to.

the demand is steady year after year. they don't need to boost their business they are doing fine as it is.

the only ones not doing well are the Mom and Pop businesses and they are not doing well in any sector.

If I had a billion dollars I would create a national chain of pool halls clean friendly with a few bar boxes sectioned off with some video games and a milk shake stand for the kids.

a large room of decent 9 footers with a bar

And a Members only room in the back with with name brand cues and top of the line equipment.

Then put one in every city in the country. and be the wall mart of pool halls.

You could sponsor your own tour.....not to mention make a ton of money.

I guess its time to buy a lottery ticket

I would like to hear more about your plan. Friday I am going to win the 270 millions dollar lottery. I will have the cash next week. Where should we open the first place?
 
I was in Arizona last summer. Hot,Hot,Hot. If I lived in AZ all I would do was play pool. It's too hot to go outside.
 
If you won a BILLION Dollars, you might become another greedy bastard that refuses to help anyone. You too will expect to get 2 dollars back for every dollar spent.

That's how that kind of animal survives.

Then one day, you give all you have to some rotten institute (Oral Roberts University), hoping your legacy & your sole will be reverred..... Ha Ha Ha...

If I had a billion dollars, I'd open a small room close to my home with 10 tables, have good hourly rates, and not give a rat's behind whether I made money or not. I'd open whenever I damn well felt like it, close when I was tired, and never work hard again in my life.

Its a trade off...We don't go outside for really only about 3 months in the summer .....but do enjoy the perfect weather for the other 9......:D

and I have much more extra closet space.....;)

I wouldn't even charge table time. Figuring interest on a billion $$ to be $50 million who cares. You could only play if you were gambling or giving lessons. The new mecca of pool. Oh well, maybe after I make my first billion. I might even do it with $100 million

You're right, free table time is better for the "choosen". However, I don't want to discourage beginners, etc., so cheap table time for them. :)
I also might subsidize (sp?) my favorite local cuemaker, he knows who he is.

Hey, It's MY Island

If I had a Billion Dollars, I would not waste my day sitting at the computer on AZBilliards.
I would walk the beach on my island throwing seahells back into the ocean.
