I actually don't know the answer to this. I was under the impression that the red circle used to be the "standard" Aramith cue ball, and then they came out with the measle ball. I have an old-ish set of Aramith pro balls that shipped with an "Aramith logo" cue ball, but I haven't weighted it.

So I don't know, you're probably right.

Maybe I am wrong here, but I think the common event set now for something that used Diamond tables is Cyclop balls with the Aramith dot cueball. Compromize between the players complaining about the cueball not playing properly and using the sponsor's ball set. I am pretty sure that the SBE events used this combination and I have seen others do the same thing when they use the Cyclop balls.

Cue balls definitely grow smaller over time due to being hit with chalk so much (chalk's grip comes from sand in it) - it's easy to see this by freezing the CB between 2 OBs and laying the straight edge of a rack across the top of them. At my pool hall where the cue balls haven't been replaced in a few years, all the cue balls are at least 1/16" smaller then the OBs.

I think this is why measles balls are bigger/heavier than other cue balls - they're usually closer to the same size as the OBs (due to not being used as much).

On many of the tournaments around here that are played on Valley's it is not unusual for it to be mentioned that red circle cue balls will be used.

"Grow smaller" doesn't make any sense for the 3rd time. "Grow larger" would make sense but "grow smaller" doesn't make any sense. That's like saying "the car was travelling at 50 mph until it sped up to 20 mph". It just doesn't make sense!!!

Don't think anyone would do that. Most guys just want a few days to practice with the appropriate CB beforehand.

I think the only time the Aramith measles ball gets used at an event with Diamond tables nowadays is on the Accu-Stats table. I think PF has a sponsorship deal with Aramith.

I agree that some of the shit I post is pointless and just keeps people talking but I also post some valuable stuff from time to time. If my posts are so boring then why do so many people comment on them?? I see that you've only posted two threads in your lifetime, thank you for your contributions sir! And after glancing through your other posts I found another one where you are just calling someone out for trolling lol. Is that all you do?? Whatever makes you happy...

The tendency to shrink is also due to impact. You can take the same measurements (and get the same results) with the one-ball.

Just in case it isn't clear, the red cicle and the Aramith logo are different balls. I believe that the Aramith logo cue ball is supposed to be same weight as the Super Pros and the same as the measles ball; the "red circle" is a different (and lighter) ball.
