As far as playing in sanctioned leagues, I have to travel bit out of my area to play those. With my current job hours, it's just not feasible for me to play in those weeknight leagues.

Same here:
I do help run a local American Legion league that's going on its 14th year. We use the World Standardized rules with some "local" amendments to keep things moving. We charged $2.00 a week to play 4 games for the first 12 years and then last year we raised it to $3.00 a week. There aren't any world beater's in this league, just a bunch of guys that like to get together for some competition. Our non-handicapped format helps prevent sandbagging too.

How much do you have to spot the Super Friends or Skeletor when they come to your place :D :D

I am a 6 and the only 7 to my knowledge is Aquaman, although he has to take water breaks after each shot. Batman is a 6 and Superman is a good 5. The Wonder Twins are 4's and Gleek is the strongest 3 in the place. The only two is Wonder Woman. She can't make a ball.

Yeah, I can understand that. The other league is an inhouse comunity league. Only problem is, thier rules are a bit off the wall.

Chalk up another for VNEA.

Here the handicaps are 6 to 11 with .5 points in between.

I am an 11.

Personally I would love to see how the stats of some of the players here match up against other leagues and see if we can draw some type of comparision to equal ground. I have never tried APA and so therefore have no idea what an SL7 is.

Don't worry....I play APA, and I don't know what a SL7 is either. In 8 ball it is the highest handicap (best players), but the 7's are all over the board - some are seemingly unbeatable, and some you hope the other team calls to play you especially if you have a game or two spotted to you (like I would - SL5). :) In fact, there is a team that we've played 4 times in the last two sessions, and 3 of those times I played their 7 and won (3-1, 3-2, 3-2). But, the last time I played one of their 4's and got beat 3-3.... shrug, go figure.

I also play VNEA how do you get an 11??? 10 is perfect. 1 point per ball 3 for the 8 how do you get 11?

sorry for multiple posts

I have a VNEA 9 average and the opposition is good enough that some games you don't get to shoot. he breaks and runs and you have to eat a 10-0 loss. how can you maintain a 10 against solid competition? much less be better than perfect?

APA I play. In handycap I like it no. Many I say call ball and say no they do and it going in uder pocket and shoot agian they do.

Hi Pal. How can they be BCA and not sanctioned????randyg

The BCA Pool League keeps a list of players(Seniors-Masters-Open). Local BCA Pool Leagues have the right to handicap their own league.

In Dallas we have both a handicap and non-handicap BCA Sanctioned League...SPF=randyg

Probably just means they use BCA rules is my guess. That's what the league I'm in does, or at least it is what the THINK they do.

I run an 8 Ball league that is dual sanctioned by ACS and BCA. We are an in house, handicapped league with anywhere from 12 to 22 teams. We typically play year-round, too, although I made them take a month off this past summer. :D

I've been playing in the league for about 7 or 8 years and took it over from the last LO 2 years ago. It's my one night of sanity during the week!

Brian in VA - lives in the International House of Women with my wife, 2 daughters and a herd of pets - all female.

Ours is an in-house non-sanctioned league using BCA rules (actually 3 8ball leagues.) It's handicapped. You score 8 points for a win & 1 point for each ball you made if you lose, 4 racks per player per match. So a perfect score is 32. Each team has 4 players, once you add all your handicaps together you can see what start you have to give or get in the match.

My handicap is currently 30 with 3 weeks to go, looking good for the individual trophy!

I do wish it was a sanctioned league though, it'd be nice to be eligible to play in some of the BCA events.

APA - First time in my whole life playing in a pool league. :)

(New to area , free pool for League players , hard to pass up)
