If you built an addition on your house for a pool table....

I already have a 25 x 26 added Room on my home for a Billiard Room, it is also used as our TV-Family Room.

We have experienced only one problem. The folks that estimated the correct amount of A/C were WRONG, so on terribly hot days, we have to use a window unit. I wouldn't believe another A/C Man, I do some calculations myself. The addition is very nice & adds a great value to our home.

what kind of buildings survied last years storms, you got to be above high tied or you will float off or go under water. alot of folks drowned when they got trapped in their houses, water dont stop for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! i grew up in houston and if i built anything my self it would be huricane, tornado, and flood proof. where you building Macguy????? and as Hal said go head and make it bigger than you think you will need cause it is alot cheaper to build it just once??bigger than wishun it wasnt so small

I wanted the people who built this house to do it

But he is so backed up it will be almost a year before we could even get started. So I am considering going with this type of construction
http://www.rewardwalls.com/

The property I will be building on is in Jackson county Florida in the Florida Panhandle. We should break groung in July I hope. It is over 200 feet above sea level and around 50 miles inland so it should not be a problem with storm serge that does and massive damage with hurricans. When this project is finished even though I am getting old and kind of tired I am seriously thinking of building some of these kinds of houses where people can live in safety Its a fairly simple construction system but the end result is a better house that could stand for centuries instead of some of the throw away crap they build here now. I only have 12 acres in Jackson but could put at least three more homes on the property.

I have road frontage on two sides so it would not be that hard. I might have to do a little screwing around the county but I am confident I could get it done and it would be a start. I know there is a builder right now doing them in a place called Lehigh Acres and this kind of construction should be the future of construction in Florida. I will tell you the panhandle of Florida is an undiscovered jewel. Taxes are cheaper there is less crime, nice change of seasons but no snow you can buy acreage reasonable. There are also some companies moving there so there will also be an increasing job market. Nice place to raise a family.

> Hey Pete this is Tommy. If you are installing a Diamond or GC,look into that concrete slab you mentioned. They both weigh about 1500 pounds, anything less than concrete and it will unlevel itself every so often due to settling of the floor, and possibly fall thru eventually. It can always be carpeted. I had the same concern with the table I have in my house now. I made sure the legs of the table were located directly or as close as I could over the floor joists. Then I went under the house in the crawl space and put screw jacks like are used to level trailer homes under the joists where the legs are. If someone doesn't want to go to the expense of a slab, they could do like I did or put concrete piers under the beams like are used in deck building. The tables weight is distributed over the four legs, (contact points) so the weight should be tolerable.
