If you could no longer physically play pool...

I believe I would. I took almost three decades off from playing and I still bought the magazines and books, and watched matches whenever they were on TV. I attended some live tournaments and bought a lot tapes off Pat Fleming lol.

Checking in on the sport once a year is plenty.

The game has diversified so much post COVID.

The different promotion styles are exciting. I thought Sharks was fun. Then Qatar had the silver break guy. I hope more international promoters have English announcers. English is the most spoken language in billiards. There are so many channels on youtube for all types of billiards.

Matchroom promoting the human aspect of players is great coverage. More official press coverage of billiards is fun read about.

If Billiards played a secret role in the Civil War, then it may play another role in today's international disasters.

Have you ever wondered why the earliest stories of billiard players were from countries that were fighting "foreign propaganda"?

Post a message if your interested in a theoretical retelling of how billiard tables and billiard players were influential during the Pre Civil War era. Do you know what a Collendar Table is?

I may not play, but the history of billiard became fascinating during covid.

Great question.

No.

But then, I don't watch that much pool programming to begin with.

The same can be said for Golf.

I enjoy playing each game, and will watch on occasion, but don't get anywhere near the satisfaction out of watching that I do playing.

As an example, Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill PGA tournament is played every year here in Orlando. One of my favorite weekends, because a lot of golfers go to watch the tournament and that leaves my club more open for me to actually play on! 😁

If you could no longer physically play pool, Would you still love and enjoy viewing as many games as you could ?
I can answer this question!

For about a year now, I have not been able to play pool. My joints are not working right. Sometimes it's the knees, sometimes the shoulders, but mostly the hands. I've recently gotten a bit better. I can still work, but pool at a good level isn't possible right now. Mostly making a bridge and using the hand for stroking hurts, but when the shoulders are bad, it's completely impossible to play at all in any way shape or form, and that's been the reality most of the time. It seems the problems are heavily influenced by diet and lifestyle, so I've changed my life drastically and now there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've also found some medication that works better. I might be able to play again. Even if there wasn't I would still watch pool, black ball and snooker on tv. It's been such a huge part of my life, that I dont' think I can ever leave it fully behind.

I've started watching black ball money matches on Youtube, and I love it. The games are such puzzles and there are some wild characters in the audience sometimes. It makes for great involvement in the games for me. I like watching matches on youtube will using my stationary bike, when knees are good. Keeping the mind occupied.

I took 2 yrs off during covid. I found things to do other than Pool. When I watch I want to go play but once I got back I noticed
my athritis in my lower back is kicking in so one day I might not be able to play but I think I have another 10 to 15 yrs. before that.
So, I'm playing more now to get my fix.

I'll be writing when Pool is done. I may attend tournaments like Stu one day.

The best to you... Any game if possible... Guy

Nope.
I'd watch the Mosconi and perhaps some highlights on yt, but that's about it.
When I get interested in playing chess, I watch chess
Same goes for golf and tennis.
If/when I can't play pool, I'll watch whatever hobby replaces it.

I used to love playing tennis. Got pretty decent at it, good club level. After my car wreck in '86 i couldn't play it anymore and i rarely watch it. I probably wouldn't follow pool much if i couldn't play it. A lot of it is boring as fk and the commentators are unbearable.

Yes. I can't play or do many sports at nearly the same level as I used to be able to. But I am in as much awe of those who excel in them as I was of my heroes when I was a kid (albeit without them being heroes anymore). If I ever lose interest in pool it will be because I lose interest in everything, which happens to some people. Hopefully not me but you never know.

My playing is now limited. If I could get to a decent pool hall, I would love to hang/sweat. Pool on TV for entertainment does just not do it for me, but for "education", yes.

I probably wouldnt watch it anymore... would probably just read up on it and maybe watched a couple highlights here and there just to stay current with what's going on.

Well Joe , I certainly hope I could do better than some who are trying to color commentaries now , I'd also try to get interviews before and after each match .
Since there's so much talk about trying to grow the viewing audience and expand the market place to increase the total pay outs .
