If you could only play on bar box's in bars would you hang up your cue?

If it was in Cheers, or a bar like it, I'd play on a bar table. The stereotypical bar? No.

This is the big thing, there are bars and there are bars! I have known quite a few Cheers type bars in my drinking years. No issues with anyone and no loud music. If everyone didn't know your name they knew your face. One was what they call a key club my friend and work partner's brother owned. You had to have a key to get in the door, you had to be sponsored to get a key. There was a lot to be said for that. Something I read about in the days before internet jukeboxes, just load the juke box with music the crowd you want to attract likes.

Anyone that likes to shoot pool on an open air Valley barbox, shoot pistols or rifles at steel or whatever paper we can stand up, the welcome mat is out unless I attract too much traffic. I doubt it will be an issue but I won't have a ton of company here on the farm. I did get vaccinated last week for what it is worth. I still want to see a vaccine 95% plus effective.

Some people on this site love 9" tables. It doesn't matter to me. I don't want to go smaller than 7' but to think I'd quit playing because there were no 9 footers? Absurd. If you love the game quit whining and just play.

I just recently travelled to Windsor, Ontario and there was nearly nothing to be found other than valley BB. I was told flat out that there was only 1 9ft table in that city (pop:~250k). Everyone lives and breathes BB... When I inquired why so much BB I was simply told that that's what everyone played, and with sharing a border with Detroit, which also is predominantly BB, it only makes sense.

Seems like BB is the game of choice in some regions. I happen to enjoy the few times I do play on a valley BB. Not sure if I'd make it my full time game though.

I agree 100 percent. As a kid from NJ I lived close to the NY State border. The drinking age was 18 in NY. After work during the week I'd practice on 9' Gold Crowns at the local hall. On Friday and Saturday nights it was off to NY where the bars all had Valley 88's. 6'6" and oh so slow green shag cloth.

Which is why I have a GC and a Valley in my basement. I hardly ever play the Valley but it's there for magnetic ball practice and memories of days long gone.
